EML on but no loss of power

What does this mean - my engine management light has just come on but i have no loss in power or anything else, car seems to drive ok. its happened before and the light has gone off again after turning engine off and back on again ( a few months ago now). should i be driving straight to the dealers or hope and pray it can wait and book it in instead?
so fed up with the car, this will be its 5/6 unscheduled visit to the garage since i bought it last year - thats more than all the cars i have ever owned (about 5 in total)

Could be anything really. Speak to the dealer.

Mine came on a while back and like you said when i switched off the engine it didnt come on again. I had a look under the bonnet and a plastic cover (near the air filter) had popped off and was half way across the engine. I popped it back on and no light since then.... The manual says in the diesel if the light comes on it is a glow plug fault and if it flashes it is an engine fault... thats if i read it right!

well i have successfully arriveed home but the dpf light came on as well. i have driven 20+ miles in 4th gear at 80 to try and clear it but to no avail. i am so sick of these stupid problems, if its not sorted tomorrow at the stealers i'm driving it through the showroom

I recently had eng management light as well with no obvious performance issues. Turned out to be exhaust sensor. Fixed same day under warranty. Fingers crossed for future of course! I would take to dealers and get them to plug in the VAG COM etc...

well its gone in and turns out its an exhaust sensor. no parts in stock so i've got the manager's fr550 to run around in until i get mine back, not too bad!

Exactly the same happened to mine the eml light came on then on the way to the dealers the DPF light came on. I had a new exhaust sensor too.

The difference was I got a 1.2 reference Ibiza and it was a Friday so I had it all weekend. They certainly didn't go out of their way to give me anything better. There was a lovely Cupra parked outside too!!!!

well, this is the 4th time i have had an issue with the car meaning it was off the road - i kicked up a fuss and fairplay to the dealer, they did all they could to help. i even got my next service (40k) down to £180 when its due as well as the manager's fr550 to run around in so i guess i should be happy!
