I got some electrical connections cleaner and tried that.... no joy.

When I took the switches out the contacts fell off the little circuit boards. Bloody dry soldered joints !

Two new switches please

I'm joining the window problem club aswell

My passenger window goes up but then stops about 1 inch from the top, if i then press the button again it closes the window fully. I've lived with it for a couple of months because its easy enough just to close the window in 2 goes

Now my drivers side switch sometimes doesnt react, I'll press the button to make it go down and it does nothing. Then if I keep trying it on and off a few times it comes to life and works fine up and down

Think i'll try disconnecting the battery for a bit first, then take a look at the switches

Good luck with that mate... but if not dont worry because the switches only cost me £14 each from my local Seat Dealer. So it wont break the bank.... must admit I am loving the ability to control my windows when and how i want lol.

Also Im pretty sure its a know fact the switches are pants... spoke to a few peeps who have VAG cars and they all say the same, especially golfs and polos.

Doesnt seem completely dead just yet but I'll head to dig the part number out for a switch soon

It goes up everytime, its just the going down, sometimes it just doesnt respond when I push down on the button, but at least it goes up everytime i want it to so I wont end up with the window stuck open! could be embarressing at a carpark though when having to get a ticket through the window....

Hello. I would like to ask if anyone has the wiring diagram of those electric windows? I've bought the whole set from Ibiza cupra 2001 but I am getting a liitle bit confused about all those wires. Thanks in advance.

I didn't want to rewire them, I just bought the original power windows from seat cupra, with a piece of instalation wires and I wanted to place them in my car (i had a manual ones). Anyway the problem is solved, I manage to connect them, they needed only 4 wires to connect between both doors, two of them were for the stering of the passenger window, and another to for the +12V and iginition.

Having these troubles myself, passenger window works sometimes, drivers window doesnt work at all. I have already tried swopping the switches. The fuse is fine, is there a relay for the windows as well?

Cheers

Try checking the cables, and connectors, unplug the plug from the engine and try using WD-40 on them, the same with the other side. Under the stering wheel and the airbag from the passenger site you will find 3 plugs - green, brown and white, the brown one is responsible for power windows and mirrors, chec these connections as well...good luck

As far as I know apart from switches the thing that usualy breaks is the engines, and to be more precise the electric module that is attached to them, I don't know which version of the module do you have because there were 2 of them, one with that elecric module and one without it. If you have the first one it would be good to take the whole mechanism out and try to clean it with some stuff used to clean the electric circuits.

Cool, sounds like an all-day Saturday job for me (taking small mechanisms apart, then trying and failing to put them back together :p)
