Well just had a long chat with Simon Coe working for UpSolute, he informs me that the remap he has was written by them using the custom map technique to give 212bhp, 156 kW, 221 ft/lb, 300 NM on a standard leon cupra, if you have mods you may see a little improvement on that. I have a cat back custom stainless exhaust system from PowerFlow, K&N style induction kit and Bailey DV30 dump valve, so hopefully I have the basics I need to see a better improvement.
The way Simon was telling me, people can spend over £500 for basically the same result as someone may get a custom map and they tune from scratch but end up with the same result but he has the end result which has been proven to work as its already been through the process of a custom map. Apparently the map has been aimed mainly at better power range at low to mid range rpm to reduces down changing for overtaking etc.
What do ya think?

Oh and to get back to Mitchy, I have at the moment removed all badges from the back, spelt out leon (cupra r style) and put the original cupra badge bottom right pf the boot but soon I will be removing all again and just spelling out cupra but using the new 2006 cupra letters from seat and the style.

I think Simon has a point, exhaust or not effectively your remap wil be basically a generic remap (lets not confuse this thread by starting to talk Stage 2 remaps) there is a lot of woolly terminology that is open to interpretation. Words like Custom may make you think your getting something bespoke.....when Infact your really getting the basic remap with a bit of setting up or tailoring.

What nobody has brought to your attention is various the 'other' things you get from one of the larger tuners.

- Customer Service Quality / Customer Support
- Money Back Guarantees.
- Free Trials of their product.

These things may not seem relevant but what if Mr Coe dissapears off into the sunset after your remap and you have a 'problem' where do you go? who do you call? does he have a garage full of mechanics that could jump on the car and fix your issue.......maybe this won;t be an issue though.

Who knows  it's your car and your money and there is no simple answer.............best I can suggest is a list of your priorities and do some reserach see which tner has the best list of 'Pro's Vs Con's' for you and your car

Unfortunately some tuners use smoke and mirrors to try and sell a product that sounds better than it really is, this is most obvious with 'stage 1' remaps but more complex when you review stage 2, stage 3 etc tuning.

Now Upsolute aren't one of the tuners using smoke and mirrors IMO, I believe they offer a good, honest, cheap product......however there is no harm then looking at what else you get with the product (Customer Service, money back guarantees etc that I stated before).....You would assume larger tuners charge more money because they have bigger overheads, why do they have bigger overheads? lets hope its because they spend more money on product R&D and testing etc.........of course it could just be an excuse to charge more so they can have cream cakes every Friday ;)

Who do you trust.........now that really is the $20m question

You should get to around 215bhp with remap seeing as you have exhaust and filter also.

You mention changing badges? To what?

No-one has mentioned probably the best remap for the 1.8T engine and definitely number 1 specialists in knowing the engine inside out, upside down...

i will second that :)

My Toledo went to 243bhp with just a turbo back exhuast, TIP and map from Star in Fife and it does the 1/4 mile in 14.31 secs @ 98.7mph.

At how many PSI of boost?
