ECU Remapping

Hi guys, new on here and only owned my 2002 leon cupra (180) since july, already fitted a powerflow custom cat back exhaust system, induction kit, bailys dv30 dump valve, changed badges, new rear lights etc and going to get the front and back valances and all the bump stripes coulour coded and was thinking about getting the ecu remapped, looking at a company called UpSolute (http://www.upsolute.com) and they travel to you and take about 2 hours and bhp goes from 180 to 215, basicly just wondering what you guys think and other ideas for improving on bhp etc??

Regards,

Rob

As the other posters have said, this one warrants a good search before spending your cash. Revo and Upsolute will both have good reviews on here - you should also check out APR and Custom Code for a balanced view.

Whatever you chose, you're not going to stop grinning for a while. :D

Thanx for that guys but for me it also comes down to price and 212 bhp for £295 sounds great!

Ok so if less bhp what gains instead? The problem is not alot of money at all and £295 is still alot for me. Any bad comments about upsolute?

Welcome to the site.

Its all about delivery, different remaps have different charcteristics. Revo tends to delivery a big punch then tails off, others behave differently. Its all about what suits your driving style. I run a N75J value that I know knocks 5bhp off (RR checked) but it suits my driving style better.

yes get what you want, its your money, but when asking advice, im just saying its not all about bhp, but driving style and torque and so, i also beleive a custom map is better, whilst others might disagree

Cheers guys! Well now i'm not to sure what to do, I drive around alot in high gears as the power is there unless i'm really going for it, I agree a custom map would be great as I assume that UpSolute uses a copy that they know that works well with the car. Ok so whats the best but not so costly option for a custom map in or very near east anglia?

Also, can I ask why you run a N75J value, what does it do to sute your driving style and big question and I know its not all about bhp, what is the 0-60 speed now your remap is now done and others?

I find that the N75J on mine does not boost as high initially but holds it for much longer through the range than my N75F did. Word of warning though, some people have had major running problems with remaps and N75Js (not permanent of course). Revo do not recommend using it. For some reason it just seems to work nicely on mine (well I like the delivery, it could well be that my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are less because of it)

0-60 now is about 6.1 according to Vagcom and backed up by times at Santa Pod.

is that 215 BHP just the map or with the exhaust as well?
215bhp from a map seems like 15bhp too much...
Lots of people doin maps now mate APR, REVO,CC,etc... I have APR and love it, but to be honest mate i dont think there is much difference between em all.
You should get aronud 202bhp & 240ft torque from a map alone. (thats what i got anyways)
Whatever map you go for im sure u will love it!!

yeah, I agree. Pushing it to get over 210 with a remap alone, its probably possible in theroy but in reality I've rarely seen it. I've not got anywhere near 240ft lb, 220 more like

I did some logs on here back along and from my maf reading of 183 g/s on a ko3s some guys on here worked mine out to be 220+ bhp, not had mine rolling roaded but would like to see what it is pushing out, cant say that it can be 100% through vag com or rolling road though, pinch of salt and all that

183 g/s

this is done with other mods not just remap.

You should get to around 215bhp with remap seeing as you have exhaust and filter also.

You mention changing badges? To what?

No-one has mentioned probably the best remap for the 1.8T engine and definitely number 1 specialists in knowing the engine inside out, upside down...

the 202bhp and 242 ft was on Awesome's rollers straight after the map and same results a few month later at one of our RR days there.
But i understand that it doesnt mean i could get a little more or less on other rollers...Do they call it.... dyno lottery ??!!!

But back to the question, why dont you try a few "free trials" i know APR n REVO do them (not sure bout others).
Try em all and go for the one YOU prefer at the end of the day everyone on here will tell you theres is the best!
I would go for APR again not just cuz of the product it self but also the Dealers Awesome GTi looked after me very well did many free runs on the RR and when i had some probs with the car they re-remapped it for me free of charge when it was nothing to do with them, BIG UP TO EM!

I am going the Jabbasport route. The car is booked in on 22nd September for a remap. I've always felt very well looked after up at Jabba and they have answered many a stupid question asked by me without making me feel like an idiot in the process. They are only a half hour drive away too which makes me feel more comfortable in the unlikely event I need to go back if I experience any problems.

By the way, hello everybody! I've been lurking around here for a while now and not posted much. I've found the answers to any questions I've had in amongst the archives so I've not needed to post. Great site.
