easy to fit/effective mods?

Hi all,

I have only just started driving my Leon 1.8T today and thanks to this forum I'm already itching to start modding it. I had planned on leaving it standard but I can feel the bug.

I used to drive a 1.4 Polo 8v and most of the mods were cosmetic (it was slammed) and fairly simple but I'll probably focus on more performance enhancing mods for my Leon. However... I'm not very mechanically minded and I don't even know what most things are without googling them and even then I'm not too sure how I would fit them or if they would make any difference.

So far I'm planning on getting:

• Stage 1 Revo remap
• Jetex Induction Kit (I didn't do anything like this to the polo as I'd look like a proper goon)
• Possibly some Anti-Roll Bars.

What other easy to fit/effective mods are there about? Links to products would be great! I know this is probably asked all the time but it can be a chance for you old timers to flex your knowledge and teach a clueless newbie

Id go 4 a 007P DV, Front upper S3 strut brace and maybe boost gauge

why stage 2 reamp? you know you need to spend alot on supporting mods for this, but that stage 1 you need no other mods..

The 007p is a recirculating valve that gives no performance benefit other than it can handle the increased boost from a remap, where the standard Bosch valve would fail

Does an induction kit on the leon make it seem boy racer or does it suit it do you think?

If you're going for a Forge 007p order one with a yellow spring and don't fit it until you have your remap. These come with a green spring as standard and are the correct rating for standard cars ie 5-15psi but the yellow ones are rated 15-23psi. Also, don't be 'sucked in' (sorry ) into buying an induction kit for around £90 when you can get the cone filter for around £40 although you wont go wrong with Jetex, have a look at this thread.

Getting a silicone TIP (turbo intake pipe) is always recommended if your getting a remap as the standard hose is weak and can collapse due to the increased pressure.

As somebody already mentioned, dont be fooled into buying an induction kit. Buy an open cone filter (the Jetex ones are very popular on here), and fit a 3" cold air feed, available from ebay.

see that arial, being naive, is it a simple case of unscrew the old one and rescrew the new 1, or is it more realistically overly complicated than that?

I reckon you just screw off the aerial but leave the base, then screw on the new one.

Its a pain in the arse to get the old one off but it does come off with a bit of force, the old one simply screws on, you might need a booster to as the lil one is not great for signal [where i live]

Its easy to change. Just unscrew it, fold it down, and pull HARD! Then screw in the new one.

I have seen them on, they don't look very good. The best way to achieve it, is to buy Golf MK4 wiper arms, and use their aero blades, as they sit flatter, and you can't see them from the cockpit then. The retro-fit ones stand up loads compared, and look ugly from the cockpit.
