Easy to change a steering rack on LCR?

Hi all,

I have a leak on both sides of the steering rack from the rubber tie rod seals (not repairable by dealers). A new rack is about £500 from the stealers, but i found somwhere local that will re-furb for £165.

Do you think i'll get away with a DIY removal and refitting job? I know its a subframe drop, but thats not too bad, and i''ll get a 4 wheel alignment after from my local garage.

Cheers

it isn't a hard job really just need to watch out that you dont move the steering wheel and becarful of the airbag when fitting the rack back on to the bottom of column.

make sure you bleed the fluid back thru the system

good luck let us know how you get on

Make sure you give your rack to sub frame bolts a GOOD soaking with a penetrant fluid as i snapped one of mine when I dropped my sub frame
