I had an a4 tdi before my ibiza and I looked into them. Diesels have to use an electric dump valve and they are a nightmare to wire up. Depends what throttle your car has etc so I didn't bother. I did how ever put an open cone filter on and as it was quite close to the turbo it dumped off really loud and turbo whistle was unreal. People asked me if I had a dump valve on it and couldn't believe it was just an air filter

Afraid normal dump valves don't work on turbo Diesel engines. Only real way to get the sound is to fit either the big speaker box type one or the Forge diesel dump valve. But as said above they can be a nightmare, best one about is probably the diesel one but it certainly isn't cheap!

thanks for your help guys. jsut an idea really.. if i left decat but had no silencers on the custom exhaust system i have having done would it make any difference or would it have to be a straight through pipe from turbo to rear end to make anything sufficient

I had a milltek full turbo back but when I sold the car I had the old exhaust put back on with no middle silencer and no back box and it sounded awesome, nice and growly :)

The turbo sound on a tdi with an open cone filter is the best way to get a good sound, lots of turbo spool whine and plenty of turbo chatter when you come off the pedal :)

Would that be the case with a 1.2tsi out of intrest ?

Personally havnt found open cones on tdi's dont sound good. I put one on mine and I came straight off.

I'm guessing your going to have a DPF, look into DPF removal and software. Removing the DPF unlocks a few mpg as well as power oh and a bit of sound.then get the rear box cut out with the tip you want on it.

IMO this DV idea is laughable and pretty chavy. Get the boxes out the exhaust and your be happy.

But back in topic: diesel dump valves are a waste of money in my eyes, its essentially hundreds if pounds on something that offers nothing but a whoosh sound, plus anybody that knows their cars will know instantly that its not real.

Turbo sounds way better through the open cone; some will agree, some wont. At the end of the day it's entirely up to you and what you want from your car mate :)

Not sure how its set out on the ibiza diesel under bonnet. But with my a4 I completely removed the air box so I had plenty of room for a big cone filter

This, or remove the top part of the air box, attach the cone and tie it into the bottom half of the box with cable ties...sort of like this

The gearbox has nothing to do with a dump valve/dump spacer so yes you can fit one I have one fitted to my 1.4tsi dsg

:confused:I have brought a pippercross panel filter and have no idea what this will do as I have always had induction kits/ colne filters before can anyone tell me what the difference is? Will I still be getting the meaty sound of the induction kit? Or will it just be the wosshh noise? Or none at al? Is there any power increase? I would really like a dump of air from my car when I release of the gas. What would be the best way to get this? Dump valve? Or a big old colne filter? Could any one help me with a link. Again sorry if his is always being asked
