Dump Valves

Ever since i had a baileys blow off valve fitted to my Cupra R 225, i have noticed the car is alot slower to drive, esp higher up the gear range. I had a rolling road done recently and the figures i got were well down on the factory figures. Maxium output at the flywheel was 190 brake, when really the car should be pushing around the 225 mark. I have noticed once i change from 5th to 6th gear the car takes ahell of a long time to build up speed, this was never a problem when i had the stardard valve fitted. Does anyone know which is the best dumpvalve for this car?, as alot of people seen to be using the Forge 007 one in their car.

If your using a blow off valve that will be your problem! The 1.8T has an adaptive ECU which in short doesn't like blow off valves as a rule of thumb, although some people have run them ok, so best bet would be to put the standard DV back on the car, sell the blow off valve and buy a recirc valve which vents the air back into the inlet pipe and wont cause you any issues.

My choice would be either a Forge 007p or Bailey Re-circ although there is the Forge Split R but from what I heard and read you will spend the rest of your life trying to set it up...!

Hope this helps.

Defected!
The answer is in the question mate, Forge 007p. There are loads of threads on here about this. I can't comment on the Baileys or the Split R because other than the standard Bosch the Forge 007p is the only one I've used on the recommendation of JBS when I had the remap done. As mrwookie says above the LCR has an adaptive ECU so with a blow-off type dump valve it never knows where it is as far as air, fuel etc.

007p mate, most people use them with great success. if your after the noise jus replace the air box and filter with a large open cone filter. i'v got a ram air cone and 007p dv runs great and sounds brilliant

you need the correct dv to start with, id go for the 007p or the apr r1... or even the OEM one.

as said the current valve is making your ecu think you have a leak and is compensating. i think the cars going into soft limp hence the lack of power.

As everyone is saying, the problem is the blow off valve. Go for the recirculating Forge 007P or if you're wanting a little more noise from the valve the maybe think about the Forge Splitter valve.

Give me a shout if you want any prices.

Im having the same deciding problem.

Do i get the split R for a little more noise, but run the risk of damaging/not getting any more from the car

or

go for the 007 with no more noise. Does the 007 actually improve performance? Which is the best colour spring to have. looking at a remaped stage 1 LCR.

007p with a induction kit will give a decent noise.. split r can be a pain to set up from what i hear and isnt massively louder anyway. 007p has nothing to fiddle with and works well. but the induction kit/modified airbox will have more effect on sound..

all secondary to keeping the ecu sweet and the power levels up though

When I bought the car it had the Bailey on, changed it for the Split R and it is slightly louder. It took me all of about 45 minuites to set up. Take your time, follow the instructions and you cant go wrong. As a tip, turn it to its stiffest setting and then around a full turn back the other way. Make sure the engine is fully warm then take it for a spin. Rev to around 3000 and if you hear the turbo "fluttering" when you let off the loud pedal its too stiff, turn it back a bit. 007p/DV30 are "plug and play" items........... The choice is yours :)

An atmospheric dump valve won't affect the power of your car, not unless it's leaking, which Bailey's are prone to do (stick/leak), so most likely the reason for being down on power is the Bailey leaking boost. 007P is what you want, I tried the split-r and wasn't impressed by it.

My Split-R works fine.
If you get one get it set up properly and then leave it alone, They dont make a lot of noise although a modded airbox or open fillter will help to make more noise

Yes they don't make much noise - which defeats the whole point in having an atmospheric port and the extra cost. If you want noise without a BOV then a 007P and an induction kit will give you intake and dump noise, not super-loud but pretty good.
