Just had the second service on my 11 plate. Underneath there is oil over the sump and the inlet manifold. Both driveshaft seals are leaking, only done 9147 miles:cry:
oh well, spoke to seat this morning and will be done under warranty on Wednesday.
To top things off, the wifes 13 plate is going in for a second time as the door seals are still leaking.
:banghead2:banghead2:banghead2
Might just go back to bed and hope this weekend goes away.

I had both seals replaced under warranty as it was literally pissing out!

I asked after it had been completed if this is quite a common thing, to which the answer was that they do replace quite a few

Got the car back today. Nearside seal replaced and apparantly oil leak from sump, so that was also removed and re-sealed. i'll have the car on the ramps to check at the weekend and make sure it's all clean and tidy so i can see if there is any other leaking.

More likely just shoddy workmanship or poor quality seals, sadly.

Drive shaft oil seals seem to fail reasonably frequently if forum posts are anything to go by...

Never heard of any seals failing for a second time though, so my guess is that the seals were just not fitted correctly the first time around.

yeah, as you say baldydave it's more than likely a Friday afternoon job. Didn't realise the sump doesn't have a gasket anymore, they are sealed in place with mastic.....
when I checked the car on my ramps there is squeezed out mastic all round the sump edge.
Obviously not happy with that on Saturday afternoon as I thought seat had bodged it, but as it turns out, after speaking with the mechanics they confirmed the mastic is usually trimmed flush and there is a return lip on the inner edge of the sump to stop the mastic from squeezing inside the sump.
Learn something new everyday....
Although, I can do without learning I haven't pulled my head out from underneath the car far enough before I try to stand up. :censored:

driveshaft leak update

Hi everyone. New service same problem with oil splattered around engine bay, when will seat Coventry fix the leaking driveshafts (both sides)... every time its been back in they ignore what I say and replace the sump gasket and last time also the oil/air seperator. At this point I don't know if there is any oil left in the gearbox and the warranty runs out this month:banghead::banghead::banghead:
If this isn't fixed this time I'm selling up and going back to classic cars. S*** they leak no oil because they were built and repaired by engineers not PlayStation jockeys[:@]
I'll ring seat again tomorrow if I've not suffered a stoke through stress and rage in the night.......
