Driver's door switches don't do anything!

Hello,

I have a 52 reg Ibiza 100 TDI PD S and the following fault is present;

None of the controls on the driver's door do anything i.e. electric window switches for both side and the central locking switch.

The passenger side window works from the switch on the passenger side door and the car locks fine from the remote control even the drivers door lock.

I have had quick look around door and A pillar for broken or corroded wiring but nothing obvious, I have checked for power at the drivers side window motor and it seems to be getting some.

A friend who works for VW seems to think the current Polo has a similar problem when the drivers side window motor packs up as all the electrics for the door are routed through there. This would make some sense as on asking price of the motor, the VW parts person said the motor is coded to the car so chassis number needed i.e. if it has electric mirrors it will have a different coding to cars that have manual mirrors (like mine).

Has anyone come across this before as cost of part is a significant £130 so would rather be sure before I line the stealers pockets further!

Thanks.

just in case someone else suffers, I have fixed it now and indeed it was the electric window motor.
replaced with genuine '001' coded part for £130.
