Drivers door not closing/latching

After passing the MoT yesterday with no probs....car decides that the drivers door isn't going to latch, it just bounces back at you...lol
Seems like its a common problem with VW door locks, the mechanism gets dirty or the springs weak or break etc.
Anyway gave it a good blast with WD40 in the latch area, and in the lock, and the outside handle, worked all the handles and the lock with the key, it seems to work again for now.
Just hope it doesn't fail shut, sounds very difficult to fix.

I would say it's over lubrication with spray grease. Techs have a habit of spraying door locks and boot locks every time. They just don't need it. The lube makes the mechanism stick inside. The occasional spray with wd-40 is all they need.
