drilling small holes to make them longer

found a couple of ideal holes to route power and ground back from the battery under the windscreen to the passenger footwell, they arent quite big enough for a 4 gauge+ground wire.

is it a bad idea to drill them out a bit?

ignore the (2) it's the black circle to the right of the 2, there is another one 4 6 inches behind it, which goes into the firewall.

seems like a great place to run cables thro, if i can make the holes about twice as long

This is what my manual says:

Passenger Compartment Mounting
Mounting the amplifier in the passenger compartment will work as long as you provide a sufficient amount of air for the amplifier to cool itself. If you are going to mount the amplifier under the seat of the vehicle, you must have at least 1" (2.54cm) of air gap around the amplifier's heatsink.

Mounting the amplifier with less than 1" (2.54cm) of air gap around the amplifier's heatsink in the passenger compartment will not provide proper cooling and will severely affect the performance of the amplifier and is strongly not recommended.

But if you sit the amp in the boot then it even better because you can earth it back the the seat buckles.

I wouldn't recommend modding those holes. I've managed 2, 4 gauge wires through them holes.

there is a lovely earth point just to the left of the blue cap.....would also mean my earth point was about 6 inches of wire next to the battery?

hmm my batt already has a thick wire already going from -ve to that bolt

i think im going to file out that hole to make it wider.

i'll find out pretty soon if this file is a metal or a wood file!

good idea

wonder if i can get some sort of liquid rubber stuff

silicon sealant mate, its waterproof, just use loads to fil the lil gap up to make sure its sealed properly.

That area youre going to feed the power cable thru is actually the hole they use on left hand drive cars to feed the bonnet release cable. Its where ive fed by power cable aswell. Currebtly got 4awg but planning on using 0awg, but also need to run an earth directly from the battery into the car alongside the power wire. Hmm not enough room.

Also thought about making it wider, carnt see a problem with this aslong as its grommeted and sealed properly.

oh awesome.

dnot tell anyone but the prev owner installed neons underneath, but routed the cables up the bonnet edge and down thro the door hinge space, so i want to route them properly as well, plus 2x 4 guage thickness wires
