If you're going to sell up and you don't have a buyer who will pay extra for the mods, breaking it up is the only way to do it.

I did it to my Leon, as much as I didn't enjoy it, it was the only way to do it.

As much as i'll get slated for saying it, it's just a car and life and family always come first no matter how much you'd like to keep it.

I know Dave well enough to know that he will always need a project to keep him happy though ;)

Yep, agreed.

The way I had to look at mine in the end. It's just a car and it was time to
move onto a new chapter as there was much bigger priorities.

Everything happens for a reason and at some point you realise it was for the better :)

Taking the spoiler off was 'symbolic' - (to me) I suppose. I am going to break the car.

I'll be doing the same thing with my cordoba end of the year

Either been drinking from the same bottle or swapping joints

Sorry to hear the news Dave. :(

I can remember seeing your car at the national meet last year and really liking it. If I buy myself a Leon in the future this is one thread I would use for inspiration/guidance/reference along with several others.

I would personally try and keep it but needs must, even more so these days with the economy etc.

I would of been interested in buying it from you the way it currently is if I didnt need a car everyday and could find the time to use it and enjoy using it.

Breaking it though does seem like the best option though if you are unable to keep it as you will be able to make a fair bit of cash back. :).

Absolutely - there will be no slating from those with a bit of cs, there comes a time when you have to let go, the young uns who refer to us as gramps etc dont understand yet.
Daves cars will live on both here in cyberspace on the forum and probably as bits that are sold on. Either way its been an inspiration and will continue to be so with the guides that have been written.
I thought it looked better without the spoiler ;)

Very sorry to hear this Dave, yourself and the car have been a huge inspiration for my own car. I'm in the same boat as you and know the torment as insurance, tax etc has to be bought for a car that is seldom used but hugely appreciated. Enjoy your Leon retirement.

You have helped a lot of people on here - so why not start a thread about people giving you OEM bits to get it back to stock? Most of us modify our LC/LCR and leave bits in the garage.

It's only right that SCN'ers give back to you... so I've got a full LC SMIC setup and TIP you can have?

Kind offer - but you have to remember I've already had advantage by selling the std bits on here in the first place!

For the sake/interest of the discussion only (This is NOT a wanted)... in order to produce a 2002 LC180 85000 miles no service history since 2007, I'd need

Std AUQ ecu
Std Sidemount Intercooler with bracket
Intercooler to throttle body hose
ko3S
Downpipe / cat / exhaust system
Oil feed line
Cooolant feed line
Evap top
Oil Breather system
Secondary Air pump
N112 (etc) pipework
Airbox
Downpipe / cat / exhaust system
dogbone mount
Wheels ( I have a set of Leon S 15" alloys
Front hub carriers
Front wishbones
One cupra front spring
312mm discs / calipers /pads
trackrod ends
Front bumper
rear bumper
cills
paint bumpers / cills / flash in round bottom of car.

You've then probably got to add a set of cloth seats + cards as my electric leathers are probably worth more sold out of the car...

I've probably missed a few things! :

Yeah, sadly it's just not worth 'selling' as a whole

unbolt the lot & have a mega ebay session for everything

If you choose the standard car option Dave I can help you on a couple of the bits you sold me. Upgraditus has hit since then ;)

Breaking the car is the best option though to be honest. Spread the parts and safe yourself the hassle of having to strip and then rebuild :)
