Hi guys.. Little advice desperately needed.. It all started 6 weeks ago when I brought a leon 2.0 tdi FR (56 reg). Drove it back from Manchester to Dover in the south.. Was running perfect.. Valentines nite girlfriends house gets burguled and the tits nicked my keys.. so car needed recovering and locking in a safe compound while it waits for the locks to be changed... 5 weeks it took.. Which I have sorted out compensation etc.. I Get the car back and the EML is on along with the glow plug light.. Later to find the DPF light is on and. Decides to go limp.. Loss of power and maximum of 3000rpm.. Damn annoying as I have only driven the car 600 miles b4 this.. SEAT have my car and run a diagnostic which came up saying the temperature heat sender Is Broken and needs a force regeneration as it's 45% full. Carried out the work and it wouldn't regenerate.. To be told the filter is 200% full.. Now I'm doubting what I'm bein told.. As u can't fill something up 200%.. Their telling me it needs a new DPF (Expensive) but a couple of mechs I know from audi told me they get the same problem with the audi a3 2.0 tdi as it's the same engine and system.. And usually it could be as simple as just a DPF sensor which will only be £90appx.. anyone got any ideas or has had a similar issue? Sorry for the essay needed to get the info in.. Much appreciated Jambo.

same thing happened to mine and a mates recently and it was a sensor, also a mate with a Passat had the same problem but If it is a Seat dealer I would have thought they know what they are doing.

You could go down the dpf delete road of course, there was a filter on ebay for £370 recently so you can find them 2nd hand

Save yourself some money and fix it yourself.

Get a lead and download Vag-Com, read up on how to locate and fit a new pressure sensor, read up on how to do a forced regen.

That is what I would do, all the info is on this forum and it's not hard to do. Inlcuding the lead you should get plenty of change from £150.

Cheers guys.. I'm now thinking about removing it as I've heard more economical more bhp n more torque.. How true is this as I've got mixed messages from other threads.. N by doing this will it throw up future issues?

some people seem the get the same mpg as before, others less but it's all about how you drive.

I will be so jealous of your 235bhp though, my 210 is superquick but 235 will be amazing

Yer my mates thinkin with a remap plus Dpf delete I'll be touching 230 at best.. I guess things go wrong for a reason.. And that reason is Cos it wants to be driven harder lol.. The more I read about the DPF delete the more I want it.. Can N e one recommend a pukker Specialist?

Custom Code. To put it into context, from last nights escapades, you will sit on a standard(265 ps) S3's erse till 1.2.0 then it'll start to edge. BIG improvement from standard

This dpf removal lark ! Has it been set in concrete yet as to what is happening about needing them left on for mot from a certain age ?? Would like the dpf removal on my 08 but not if i need it in the near future to get through mot

My mate was telling me that he could pass it through the smoke test if I took off the DPF.. It is possible but you need a garage that are'nt too fussy and are'nt out to rob you.. Ex.. took my old Honda civic coup to my old mech friend and it needed a new cat.. Couldnt get the comp to pass it so he dropped the revs to tick over and squeezed it through for me..

I know you've got it sorted which is great but just for others, it is not recommended to do an emergency regen when the DPF is over 75% full. It can apparently cause it to set on fire!!

From other Threads I've read, MY 08 onwards, Co2 readings are stricter, therefore you might want to check on predicted co2 output levels should you go down this route with a DPF-Delete, as your car might be liable to the new regulations come MOT time.
