Hi all,

just got in from an unexpected visit from the AA man:( Driving home from work and almost there, then the car starts misfiring and coughing! Now i have owned my cupra almost 2years and i never had a coil pack go. When i had revo 1, the car took it fine, then upgraded to ko3s revo2, again no problems. Had my LCR fuel pump and INA manifold fitted last week and again car was fine, until tonight.

To be honest it scared the sh*t out of me, thinking it was something alot worse. So i limped home, turned the car off and called the AA to make sure it was a coilpack. While i was looking around the engine bay, i could hear a hissing sound! Again assumed the worst and thought the car was possibly overheating. Looked at the front right tyre and it was flat! Double Whammy! Only had the tyre fitted a month ago(toyo t1-r). So the AA man arrives and fits a new coilpack as i didnt have any spare, and then set about changing my tyre, only to find out the *****y space saver did not clear my brembos(no suprise). I dont have a spare alloys so the car is currently on a jack!

Going to have to lug the alloy on the bus tomorrow and get a new tyre put on. Total cost of coilpack £40, tyre probably £50-£60, dont need this before my hybrid conversion, but hey **** happens!

And to think, before tonight i was a coilpack virgin!! No longer!

Just thought id share my misfortunes with you all.

I know its mental, two years of ownership and not a single one gone, until tonight. Dont think i could afford changing one a week. Touch wood another one doesnt go for another two years.

I've had 2 coil pack's go now. The last one I just pulled over into a bus stop and fixed it :)

Why not just put one of the rear wheels on the front and the space saver on the rear to get you to the garage?

Tyre is shagged! Massive great sharp stone right in the tyre wall. I should be charging the council for a new tyre. Drop on a road that was being resurfaced on the way home and im sure thats what did it.

Going to put the space saver on the rear and the alloy on the front for now. Just ordred another t1r from camskill63quid delivered. Rang a few local tyre places and they wanted 70quid for their starting prices for a budget tyre..... jog on!!!

I dont believe it. Driving to work, went to press about 3/4 throttle and again loads of hesitation and misfiring. Im guessing another one is on its way out!?

This is going to get expensive :(

sounds like it ,when i had a coil go it seemed to put extra stain on the other three as they packed up soon after . "my mechanic said when one goes you are better off replacing all "
