Hi Guys, just changed from my Leon Cupra R to an Ibiza fr tdi. I need to upgrade the speakers in the front doors. I have done a lot of searching on the forum over the last few days and just wanted to ask your opinions on my plans.

I am thinking of buying these for the front doors:

Will i just need to buy the plastic speaker surround adaptors and the wiring adaptor off ebay? Or is there anything else?

Also, what is the best thing to do with the tweeters as they obviously wont replace where the original tweeters are?

Any help will be much appreciated :)

Marc

Hey, and welcome, did mine at the front and back, you will need the below item to mount speakers too

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seat-Leon...2?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item27c1fff97e

Your set of speakers will be fine any 16.5 - 17 speakers should fit, and the rest is just plug and play, original speaker plug pushes in plastic clip and red and black wire push on to pos and neg pins on speaker, i didnt changes my front tweeters, sure its easy though

What speakers did you put in the rear? 6.5 inch or i have seen people put 6X9's in there?

I may not bother changing the rears and just put an 8" sub in the boot?!

put a pair of 17cm speakers in the back like the front and it made no real diferance, might for passangers but not to me, so i would not bother unless you put a more powerful 6X9 in the back or a mini sub like you said. As Chino said worth amping to improve sound, not done this my self though no need for realy good sound being a Snow Patrol fan lol

You could do it a few ways, if you just want the door speakers and a sub, you could get a decent 4 channel amp, then run the doors off 2 channels, then bridge the remaining two to run the sub I think. You'd need a amp with enough juice to power the sub.

I may opt for that option if it will make more of the door speakers. Say for example my door speakers are 90 watt rms and the sub is 400watt rms, what kind of wattage will the amp need to be?

Look on some other threads, some dude has cut out the metal panel in the rear to accommodate 6x9's they're always going to be better for bass no matter what!!
You can drill out the rivets that hold the panel in then use m6(i think) bolts to reattach it. You could always get a twin channel amp and drive the front and rears at the same time though i think most HU's have ample power to drive two sets of speakers, but obviously you're not going to win any high volume competitions!!

Just to let you about replacing tweeters in the top corner of the front doors, I bought some alpine components for my ibiza, and the alpine tweeters fitted perfectly in place of the factory tweeters. I think once I took the small plastic trim panel off that the factory tweeters are mounted to, you can pull out the tweeter, then push the ones in place!

Oh and as for 6x9's in the rear, check this out...
