Door drain holes

180PS Cupra

Guest
On my Ibiza Cupra 60 plate, I get water running out of the drivers door drain hole when it's opened, after it's been stood on the drive a while (in the snow and rain ). As you can see in my avatar (can't post pics yet) it's parked on a slight incline. I don't get any water running out of the passenger door though.
Anybody else had this problem?
Surely it should drain out all the time and not hold the water in the door. When the door is closed the drain hole doesn't seem to seal against anything so just seems a bit strange. I feel if the water is being held inside the door, it will eventually start to rot prematurely.
Any ideas?

my 59 plate cupra does the same only on the passengers side due to the angle on my drive after heavy rain. If i open the drivers door nothing comes out, if i open the passengers door it pours out (depending on the rainfall) my car doesnt hold any water tho and when its on a level surface it comes out both doors, my old fiesta did the same thing and my old old fiesta did it aswell. As long as there is no damp smell and no sloshing in ur door im guessing u'd be ok (just guessing). The body of the car should be galvanized so the rain water wont cause any damage to it unless it pools around something perishable.....again thats just IMO

i had the same thing on my cupra. and on my porsche. driver side only (which is passanger side in your country). found that i didnt close window fully on cupra. and the porsche had a not power enough window engine.

it should hold water. but not much, only as much as the angle of the door when opening from the angle of the drain hole. should be few drops.

i got the 1.6 tdi atm, and that does it on both doors, when its on my drive, when i open the door it all drains out. But my drive is on an incline. SO could just be that. doesnt seem to do it when flat! i got a deposit on a cupra atm :) hopefully getting it in the next 3 weeks... i will see on that!

Mine does it all the time. There is actually a reason for it and Techie has mentioned why but i wouldn't have a clue what thread it is in and can't remember the reason lol sorry.

Don't worry about it though.
