Hi all, happy owner of the new 2023. year formentor 2.0 245hp petrol.

How to find out if my car has OEM alarm built-in or not? I have red diode on drivers' door which blinks for some time when car is locked, but not sure if this is real alarm?

I know I could try to "trigger" it based on user manual book, but other than that how to find it out if car is equipped or not with it?

From sales kit leaflet which shows my car equipment, I can not see it listed (bought the car from unoffical car dealer (not official cupra/seat ditributor)....)

The theft alarm monitors the doors, bonnet
and rear lid.
The anti-theft alarm system activates automatically
when the vehicle is locked
If the vehicle is not opened electronically with
a valid key, the alarm triggers and emits audio
and light signals for a maximum of approx. 5
minutes.
When is the anti-theft alarm triggered?
● If a mechanically unlocked door is opened
with the vehicle key, you have 15 seconds to
switch on the ignition before the alarm is triggered
(depending on markets, the 15 seconds
waiting time disappears and the alarm is triggered
immediately when the door is opened).
● If the bonnet is opened.
● If the rear lid is opened.
● If an invalid vehicle key is used.
● If there are movements inside the vehicle
(in vehicles with interior monitoring
››› page 94).
● If the vehicle is lifted or towed (for vehicles
with an anti-tow system ››› page 94.
● If the vehicle is transported on a ferry or by
rail (in vehicles with an anti-tow system or interior
monitoring ››› page 94).
● If the 12-volt battery is disconnected.
● If the window is broken.
● When a trailer connected to the theft alarm
system is unhitched.
Switching off the alarm
● Unlock the vehicle with the vehicle key unlocking
button .
● Grip the door handle.
● Switch the ignition on. Please note: to turn
on the ignition, place the vehicle key in the
area provided for it to perform an emergency
start.

@Mares; The country flag below your forum name is shown as Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Formentor’s spec in your country may be different to UK Formentors. If it is different, then it’s possible your car may not have an alarm as part of its standard spec.

However, a simple way to check would be to see if there’s the option to switch off the alarm’s interior monitoring system - the procedure for doing this is outlined on page 95 of the owner’s manual at the link posted by @Spivvy above.

Other ways to determine whether or not your car is equipped with an alarm;
  1. contact the official Cupra importers for Bosnia and Herzegovina and ask them.
  2. trigger the alarm as you’ve suggested.
  3. check to see if your car has an alarm siren / alarm back up battery. I’m not sure of the location on current generation VAG cars, but with VW and Skoda vehicles this used to be located under the front right wheel arch (on right hand drive vehicles - assume the location is the same on left hand drive cars?). You would need to remove the plastic wheel arch liner to check, which IMHO is a lot of trouble to go to when 1. or 2. above are easier ways to check, or simply check to see if you’re able to switch off the interior monitoring system.

I am from Serbia but the car was purchased in Germany and imported. Not sure where do you see the flag, I do not see any for mine and other forum users?

Nevertheless, I tried triggering alarm by mechanically opening the car with the key and wait for some time but no alarm sound, also no option in infotainment for alarm's interior monitoring system so I am sure there is no OEM alarm.

Your country flag is displayed where indicated below. It’s now showing correctly as Serbia but when I posted earlier it was showing as Boznia and Herzegovina. It’s been acknowledged before on the forum that the correct flag isn’t always displayed - see discussion topic at the link below;

Your investigations seem to confirm that your car doesn’t have an OEM alarm.
