second the flexible stuff from BandQ its about 3 times the diameter to let more air in and its a hell of a lot cheaper, probably less than £7, ive got it in mine, have a look at some pics ive got in previous posts. it does feed it with cold air but i cant say ive noticed much of a difference with or without

right im gonna buy some b&q flexi ali but dont know where to put the intake of it?im either thinking below the front of the car underneath the radiator facing down or facing the front grill so it sucks the air in? anyone got ideas?

I experimented with lots of different air feeds on my mk2 8v, both with a pipercross induction kit and with a home made forced air induction system into the standard air box with a K & N panel filter. However the car was always noticeably stronger with the standard air box and filter, although obviously without the induction noise. The modded air box bizarely made the car drive like a 16v.

There's a seemingly useless empty black plastic canister that you may have removed when you fitted your induction kit which is mounted near the radiator. If you remove this it leaves a space where you can stuff a big induction pipe down to the lower grills on the bumper. I tried mine both facing down and forwards in the front grill like you say.

Not sure how to post pics up on here,if you pm me your e-mail address I will send you pics of the installation on my wifes 16v.I cut a hole in the lower (black) spoiler & bonded some Marley plastic piping onto it & then connected the flexi to it & routed it to the airbox.

Erm, sorry guys, but induction kits in general are a waste of time & money whether it's Green, K&n or Piper whatever it is.
With my K&N induction kit, max power was 158BHP.
Now, with the original panel filter (not k&n or any other) and a drilled air box, it was rr'ed @ 165BHP. With a Green panel filter in it, it's 168BHp.

Induction kits are just for the sound they make not for improving anything.
Even when i fiited an induction cone inside the air box, it was crap.

Sorry guys, got to be honest.

hi guys,
the black end bits are also from BnQ from the toilet department area. theyre called a pan pipe if im not mistaken but thats all they are. spraypainted black or silver which ever it is at the minute i cant remember. just push the rubber seal on the end of the pan pipe into the metal ducting and bobs your uncle. i put mine to the front of the grille, with a rubber seal on the end of the pipe to make it look a LOT better, just makes the end look round and black as opposed to silver and ... bent

did your pipercross look like what mine does?
if it does i may give the old air box a whirl back on then? but surely if the pipercross is getting hot air and loosing performance, drilling holes in the air box so it sucks the same hot air in is going to be just as bad? but with a more restrictive filter?
am i right?

the idea is to drill the cold side of the airbox.
a decent heat sheild on a piper X isn't a bad idea, mine ran fine when i had a nice peice of ally covering it on the engine side.

do you have a picture of what yours looks like? ive made a new induction kit for mine out of drain pipe which leaves the filter sucking air from near the wheel arch, i just need to find a better way of fitting it to the top of the engine and ill post up a couple of pics later on
