Dodgy brakes on my Leon Cupra D

I took my car to my local Seat dealer for my annual service and told them about the problems I'm having with my brakes. The first one is that they just dont seem to be beefy enough. My car is the Leon Cupra Diesel and I find when break hard from anything above 80mph they just dont bite!. The other problem is when I'm driving and its really p***ing down if I havent used the brakes for a while, when I do break initially there is nothing there. This was a problem when I was trying to fit into a gap coming off the motorway and nearly rear ended someone. Any idea's or anyone had any similar problems with . My car is in the dealers compound and they wont let me have it back !!! So I'm stuck in some bog standards Ibiza (Thanks Seat). HELP

Might help you, might not.
Had the very same problem of no brakes in the rain, as you're describing! Took a turn of from the motorway, hit a roundabout and could'nt stop, hit the brake and carried on at the same speed, right across it!
Turned out to be the wax solution from jet washes!
Have stopped using it on the wheel area and the problem has disapeared! Cars brakes working fine again!

Well the official verdict is that this is a known fact and I was referred to my manual which mentions that the brakes may not work in the wet (what a f***ing cop out) the guys at the dealership suggested that when driving in the wet that I apply my brakes at frequent intervals to avoid the problem. Apparently they have addressed this problem by programming the CPU to apply the brakes at intervals to clear what I can only assume is water on the discs.

So if I die you know why!!! Still love my car though and wont be getting rid of it.

Oh its not just me then in my new FR Tdi. Have to admit yesterday made me drive slower in the rain. I find they bite, but its the last little stop bit its no good at.

Oh well I will keep braking on the M1 at regular intervals and if I get pulled by South Yorkshire Police, I will simply point them in the direction of the manual to say that my brakes don't work in the wet :)

I love my car till the day I die - on a wet day with no brakes
