do you no what part this is?

hi all i took this picture from laying under the car. coujld anybody tell me what the part is that has oil all over it and is it possible that the oil has come from that.

That's your turbo actuator. Potential oil leak on turbo - investigate immediately - fire risk!

To be honest, I am not clued up on VAG engines too much and I am still learning, so out of interest and just in case I am ever faced with this problem, what would be the cure? I mean, it looks serious so could it be a new turbo jobbie?

It might be something as simple as a new oil line seal needed, or a banjo needing tightening.....

There's nothing wrong with your actuator. If it's oil, it's coming from higher up.
