In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
now this maybe a stupid question but...

...my car has been in the garage for 1.5hrs now and my wings are boiling hot, like a hot water bottle hot, middle of bonnet is quite cool ( i know theres heat proofing there tho)

thing is, yesterday when got home i noticed a sortof plasticy burning smell, was there this morning aswell but not tonight, but last night and tonight ive noticed the wings are steaming hot,.

Last night i left the bonnet up for a while and it all cooled down, i cant see anything that would get hot like that inside them so i assume its the engine heat travelling through the wings.

today i had a look around in the engine bay and didn't discover any metled parts or anything and there was nothing stuck underneath, ie a carrier bag. so im stumped really.

can someone check theyre wings to see if theyre really quite teppid after an hour of switching off

Yep mines pretty much the same. The wings stay hot for a while and the bonnet is pretty cool.
