i can see why you havent welded that in place that shifter bracket is nasty metal to have to weld on.

On the pluss side, there is loads of room to do the side to side bracket.

It prob took about 40 mins to do. Very easy to do if you have the right tools.
Grind off the back of the pin where it is rivited over then knock the pin out with a punch.
The hardest part is actualy getting the cable off the ball/pin. I used a 13mm spannun and put it inbetween the shifter bracket and cable end and forced it off the ball/pin. No drilling required to remove it.
I might try the side to side one next week.
