4 clips If I remember, one is shown in the picture that's got left behind above the red circle.

The panel levers off carefully, there is a little slot one once place to help start. But I found the clips ping off/get left behind sometimes.

Are the clips likely to break when pulling the trim off? Should I have new ones spare at the ready?

You won't break the clips easy, they are spring steel. They tend to pull out the cover and/or get left in as per the picture or fall down the back of the glove box.

Got any pics of how the 502G looks inside and out? I'm looking at getting one this weekend.

sorry in the delay in replying - please find photos of the 502g fitted. I did not use the supplied suction mount as i thought it was too bulky so purchased a stick on mount off amazon.

Just bought this. I saw it for not too much money in maplin, could probably buy the little pieces for half the price from fleabay but this was in front of me and you gotta love the easy life. Will be studying this thread later today!

Cost £14.99, glad to hear it's not too difficult although knowing my luck I'll end up punching a hole through something expensive!

Kit contains these 4 pieces, the two lower pieces do the same job they're just different sizes to fit different vehicles so only 3 bits are used. Could probably buy them individually from the maplins electrical gubbins aisle for cheap.

What fuse have you attached it to? Just got one of these kits £11.95 on Amazon and because I'm a Prime member I got same day delivery so its coming today.

I used the cigarette fuse which was the yellow 20A one pictured on the first page of this guide :)
Let us know how you get on!

Fuse to piggy back from or fuse for the new wiring?

Don't don't need any more than 3/5amps for a dash cam, less even. More won't hurt if wiring can take more amps.

If using the piggy back add a fuse use the original fuse and a new one for the camera.

Oh and make sure you get the right way round. ie lower amp on cig lighter will blow rather quick ;)

Probably the cigarette lighter fuse which is the one Kev used in the guide on pg1.
It's the best to use as its controlled by the key so the camera will come on and off by the key.

You put two fuses into the fuse tap, one of the camera and the other for the cig lighter.

I mean which fuse have you replaced to fit that hardwire kit into.

The Nextbase kit looks to have an add a fuse/piggy back plug adaptor like Terry, myself and others have used.

Best bet is use the 20 amp cigarette lighter fuse location. As shown on page one with the red highlight.

Keep the 20 amp and add one for the camera kit.:)

Just to add to the above, yep the kit connector plugs into the slot that the cig lighter fuse is in. The kit then has two fuse slots so that you can plug your yellow cig fuse back into it (so your 12v socket is still fused), the remaining slot on the kit connector is so you can put the fuse for your dashcam in.

The kit I used comes with a dashcam fuse already set up for you in this second slot, so literally all you need to do is:

1) locate yellow fuse behind glovebox (as per page 1) and pull it out.

2) Plug this yellow fuse into the spare slot on your wiring kit connector.

3) plug this connector back into the slot in your glovebox that the yellow fuse was in.

4) carry on wiring rest of dashcam.

Finally got round to finishing mine at the weekend.

Used the Nextbase 502g with the Nextbase hard wiring kit. Dead simple.. the hardest bit for me was getting the trim off at the side of the glove box (which was made exceptionally easier by borrowing some trim removal tools).

Would recommend the camera and hard wire kit to anyone.

Just need to get round to tidying up my install now as I didn't have bag ties to hand so its just all rammed in there.
