Hi

Is there a knack to removing the oil dip stick . Tried today but it’s locked in and looks like it’s got a clip on it so can’t be pulled out .

any ideas ?

thanks

Just came looking for the same answer for my newly acquired '23 Ateca - I can see the yellow stick has little 'claws', they are very reluctant to give up!

One just has to be rough with it then?

I just checked my oil level and quality - yes - you just pull directly upwards with some force. If you are really concerned about it, you could apply some pry action on 1 side of the clip with a finger, while pulling up with the other hand, but it's fine.

What I struggle with a bit is making sure to grab the other end (with a tissue) lower down the stick just before you pull it all the way out - so it doesn't flick oil over yourself or the windscreen. Then making sure no lint goes on the dipstick after you wipe it (although this will be collected by the filter).

I found out on my formentor that the dip stick does go in a particular way round so make sure you get it the right way. Easy trial and error as it is easier to put back in one way than the other
