Hi,

Our Formentor has been attacked for the second time by a rodent in 9 months 🤬
It ate the soundproofing foam close to the engine bulckheaf and in the front fenders. Fortunately, it looks like there´s no other damage.
It’s crazy, since I asked the dealer to install an ultrasonic unit since new…
I had kept one from my wife´s previous car. I´ll order new batteries and reinstall it ASAP. Additionally, I ´ll apply engine oil on all foams and plastic housings. I know rodent don’t like this on their fur…
&€@%#*$£ rodent !!!

That is really annoying.

I have read that people even hang toilet cleaning/fresh blocks under the hood because the smell would scare the animals away. The cheapest ones stink the most. I do not know what this does to any possible smell inside the car. I hope the electronic sound devices also work.
Another option I read about is to park on wire mesh. But that's only possible if you have a private driveway.

I translated this from a Dutch website:
Take a number of roof battens and use them to make a square that extends approximately 30-40 cm beyond the car. Make sure that it is large enough that it extends well beyond your car on all sides. Note: a piece of wire mesh in the middle of the car is not enough: a stone marten can climb and jump well. It will then climb up the tires on the outside. - It is best to use chicken wire or aviary wire.
Do not stretch the mesh too tightly between the slats: stone martens do not like a moving surface. This will keep them away from the car. If you stretch the mesh too tightly, the marten will simply be able to walk over it.

Hi,
4 crunchef foams replaced.
I´ve put a thin film of engine oil (with a brush and rags) on them as well as on the main plastic housings or rubber hoses.
I´ve also put back the ultrasonic box that I had on my wife's previous car.

Hope it will be efficient enough.

At least, engine bay looks all clean with these satin black plastics… 😁
