Different roof spoilers?

Does anyone know if the standard roof spoilers fitted to the Cupra Rs were a different shape to the rest of the range? It might be my eyes playing tricks on me but I'm sure they're bigger and/or curvier?! If so, does anyone have a part number/price/fitting guide? I had a search on the forums but couldn't really find anything...

Definitely longer, by about 25mm, not sure if the shape is any different.

Never seen a part number, dealer would know though...

Both the Cupra (facelift at least) and the Cupra R use a slightly bigger spoiler than the rest of the range. But its hardly massive. Even when my Cupra is parked next to my Dads 1.6S you can hardly tell the difference.

Ok, cheers guys - was reading phil739's post about his new bumpers, and apart from the car needing lowering, the back end didn't look quite right IMHO... I thought it might be the spoiler on his car not looking right with his new Cupra bumpers, and it reminded me that I was wondering about this a while ago. Glad its not just my imagination!
Might have to look into this further, I think the spoiler would be a nice subtle change to my car (would go with the LCR front splitter too!), but only if it doesn't break the bank!!

It's a WRC replica Spoiler, and i hasten to add not on my car !!!! and possibly a bit OTT

SJ Don't suppose you could post a better pic of your front end with the R splitter fitted, I've got one in the garage waiting for a dry day, and want to see how it looks against the stock LC preface lift bumber, thanks in advance ;)

Sure guys, always happy to help! I personally think it suits the pre-facelift cars better than the post-facelift ones, as the shape of the lower grille is more elongated, if you see what I mean. Anyway here she is:

The splitter does go all the way up to the wheel arch, even though it doesn't quite look like it from that angle. I might be able to find another pic somewhere so let me know if you want one. I think this is the most effective angle to see it from though.

LCR Splitter

Cheers SJ top man, yes please another pic would be great, especially directly from the front... any tips on fitting ??

I've held it up to my bumper, and I can't decide wether to cut the tags that press into the LCR lower to make it flush fit or cut small holes in my lower so it fits as per the LCR, then scew it at the sides !!!

So any tips would be brill :D:D Thank you in advance..

might look ok, if you happen to be building a race rep, but a road car Errr Nah...

If I was doing that I'd get the Cupra Championship spoiler, not that 80s whale-tail job! It would be hard to do properly though, without it turning into a chav-mobile.

Another pic then...

As for fitting, this pic actually helps explain this in a way - I trimmed the centre posts down but not very evenly at first (tricky to judge) which is why it seems to bulge down on one side a bit. I've sorted it since that pic was taken so it is actually straight now! I was reluctant to cut the bumper, the splitter is only £20 so I'd rather cut that down than a £300 bumper! Its held on with some self-tapping screws from B&Q, I think four on each side. Getting it central is the hardest part, rope someone else in to help you! Also the ends will poke into your wheel arches but don't cut them until its on the car so you can get the length right.

Thanks for the further pics SJ, Your not wrong i thought i'd take a chance on it staying dry today, and it's taken me on me tod :help: and a big roll of gaffer tape, about 3 hours to fit mine, had to trim the centre posts about half their length.

Looking at yours, yours fits round the wheel arch a bit nicer than mine, but i tried it against the bumber and it looked at bit odd from the side so got it central, temp screwed it on then gaffer tapped the sides temporily and then screwed it up, ended up cutting about 2 inches off each end, at the wheel arch, I'd ain't easy on yer own i can tell ya !!, heres a pic of the finished jobby..
