Hi,

The above light came on yesterday and has not gone out. I checked the oil and I was on the minimum, which i thought was little unusual considering the cars only done 8000miles. I topped the car up with oil which i bought from the dealers but the light is still on.

I know the light could mean any number of sensors could be faulty but how important is it to not drive the car? The dealer can't fit me in for another 3 weeks and i can't be without a car for that long. The car seems to drive fine as far as i've been able to tell from the 1/2 mile i drove the car with the light on so i don't think it's too serious.

see if anyone has vag-com near you and then you can see what the fault code is. Should be still be ok to drive. If it was really serious you would notice driving it i would have thought

Could be a number of things best get it checked 3 - weeks is pretty poor take it too a skoda or VW dealer instead see if they can fit you in sooner! Normally nothing drastic, other wise you would tell with the running og your motor! :)

Yeh i doubt it's too serious. I know it's stupid the waiting times at the dealer. I had to wait weeks to have my car looked at when it was allowing water into the car and by the time they had a look at it the interior carpet was wrecked and had to all be replaced. They also have a habit of saying things like "i'll just transfer you now" or "i'll just pop you on hold" and then hanging up on you [:@] Will a VW or Skoda garage do Seat warranty work?

Sounds similar to a problem I had - think it turned out to be a coolant temperature sensor or something similar.

At the time, I was told if the light isn't flashing and the engine seems to be running OK you wont be doing it any harm.

could be incorrect lambda readings, a one off anomoly (sp?) etc if its driving ok it should be fine, my light has been on for around 4 months due to a malfunction with the lambda sensors, still to get to the bottom of it but its not hurting fuel or performance that i can see anyway.
