Update!

I received my 20mm spacers earlier in the week and with a bit of free time yesterday I took off my front 15mm spacers and got these out on!

Drivers side front before:

And after:

From above before:

And after:

Being only 5mm thicker it's a very subtle difference but it pulls the tyre closer to the arch and I like the look a bit more now! Once I can get 215/40s on all round and drop the front a little more I'll be happier with the stance.

A little comparison of the old and new spacers, old on the left, new on the right:

My old spacers are just about to be cleaned up to be sent to their new owner tomorrow :)

While I was under the car I decided to clean some of the crap off my coilovers and put some copper grease on the threads and where the springs meet the adjusters. They move a little more freely and will hopefully keep things corrosion free for a while :)

Cheers for looking!

Looking great with the extra 5mm of poke. Mine sit in with 10mm spacers but i have recently been thinking about widening the track a bit. Funny because I've had 15mm spacers fitted previously but didn't like it. It's lower now mind. It's nice to have the sunshine with us now :D

Cheers mate :) didn't think it would make Mich difference but it's the details that make it.

I think now it's lower you should do it, will make such a difference to the final look. Haha true, was good to get out for an hour and not have numb fingers after 2 minutes :D

Hey mate, responded in your other thread about the steering wheel :)

Only a small update this time, I had an overboost/diesel fume issue last week, decided to put new turbo to EGR gaskets on as I thought there may have been a leak from a previous gasket problem.

You can see the new gasket has a number of tabs on it to secure them in place when removing/refitting the pipework.

After pulling the turbo manifold to EGR cooler pipe off I found a crack that I could open/close by wiggling the pipe. I took it to a Subaru specialist around the corner who welded this up for me. He told me it would look like s**t as he had no gas on his welder and I wasn't disappointed :p

It's sealed the pipe and I now have more consistent boost and no leaking/hissing from the turbo :) it'll do until I get an EGR delete on there.

It was my birthday on Monday (cheques in the post please :)) so I'm putting the money towards a decat downpipe. Been looking at the Toyosports PD130 one on eBay, have read these fit but asked Toyosport and they said it would not fit....anyone able to confirm?

Hoping to use the money from selling my old spacers/bolts towards replacing my catch can with a nice Allard version soon. Mine leaks, doesn't have 19mm inlets and I'm still getting sludgy oil in my intake pipes [:@]

Don't quote this 100% but I was sure that they'd fit as only the turbo internals are different between the 130 and 150, I think the 130 is gt1749v and the 150 is gt1749vb? May be wrong though, best place to ask would be tdiclub.

Hey mate, cheers for that. I'd read the same regarding the internals, further research suggests that the GT1749v is off the 110/115, GT1749va is off the 130 and the GT1749vb is off the 150 as standard.

Also after asking on ukmkivs and looking online, the exhaust is narrower on the 110/115 than the 130/150.

I'm going to order the Toyosports 130hp version and just pay the extra. Hoping for an extra £20 it comes with a fitting kit :p will update when I get it fitted :)

Nice one get shot of that restrictive cat :D.

Got my 312 mm setup on the other day. It's all bedding in still so worse brakes than I had before but will be worth it after a while ;)

Ahh I was close lol. Has this still got a cat?

Still appreciate the help and gave me a good starting point to check on. Yeah still got the cat at the mo, got a Toyosports de-cat downpipe on order now and hoping to get it fitted next weekend.

My thoughts exactly! After seeing a picture of a standard back box that's been split open over on ukmkivs, I think that needs doing pretty soon as well!

Great stuff, I'm sure they'll be much better once they bed in. I wouldn't say they make a huge difference over the smaller brakes but certainly look better and there's a better choice of 312mm discs.

Update!

Got my Toyosports downpipe fitted on Wednesday night. The old one came off nice and easy with a bit of maneuvering, although I did blink for a second and managed to drop the flange end on my own head! :p

It comes with a new gasket plus bolts/nuts for various fitments, none of these fit the GT1749vb though so I re-used the old nuts.

8y7e3a8a.jpg

It's the same width as the standard exhaust but does have a small step down where it meets the centre pipe. The welds are good though and it's a well put together pipe for a reasonable price.

You can see the difference in the smoothness of the flow compared to the old downpipe. Also how big the cat is, the new pipe is a fair bit lighter!

The turbo comes in a bit earlier, spools quicker and the engine roars right up to 4.5k with a nice whine when lifting off the throttle :)

I do now have some blue smoke on idle and at low revs though  Research suggests it could be a few things, bad pcv system, blocked oil return, turbo seals or even valve seals. Going to start by fitting the standard pcv to TIP pipe and go from there.

I've got massive smoke issues with mine at the minute nearly always white smoke I've got a thread about it. Have checked injectors etc but now it's looking like cam wear.

The other day though it was blue smoking as well like the turbo was on its way out. I'll also be removing the turbo return pipe and cleaning that out, as well as removing the sump and cleaning the oil pickup just in case.

Ouch, could be a sign of a failing turbo :( I got round to replacing mine last Sunday with a Turbo Dynamics exchange rebuilt unit and have to say the difference is amazing! It's not upgraded at all, just a standard GT1749VB unit but it spools really quickly, hits 1.4bar consistently and doesn't creep or over boost at all!

Also the smoke issue has disappeared for good, though now I need a new de-cat as mine was butchered ready to fit a GT1756VK I tried to put on. I had no clearance due to the driveshaft and turbo outlet coming in to contact and didn't fancy chopping up a new turbo to male it fit.

Well worth checking the oil feed/return, hopefully it won't be too serious for you mate!

I'n other news, after getting the turbo fitted last Sunday (yippee!) the passenger front window decided not to close on Tuesday! Turned out the window regulator cable had come loose and got mangled in the regulator mechanism. Got a replacement cable/clip set yesterday and spent a couple of hours stripping the door down, replacing the regulator set up and re-seling the door while I was at it! No more whistly window or wet carpet for me :D

That's not a fun job I've done a few regulators in golfs and it's a pain in the arse.

Stripped my injectors out with a guy who knows these engines better and they've moved about in the head and ****ed it so new head time :(

How much was the exchange turbo in case I need one?

Tell me about it! At first the cables were too long, then after re-setting them on the centre spindle they were too short so I had to trim the sleeves down so that I could get the cable over the pulleys...frustrating to say the least!

Yikes, sorry to hear that mate! It sounds like that's the cause of your problem. The exchange was £514 after gettin the surcharge back, it's £694 up front. It's running like a dream now though, 400 miles and it still surprises me when it comes on boost in second!

Cheers mate :) yeah the plasti dip works a treat, I pressure wash it and I sometimes take it to a local hand wash place and it's held up fine, even with their careless approach!

It works well as a quick fix, 3/4 cans will do the job and it sets over night so really quick and easy. I say go for it, I'm crap with spraying stuff as I don't really have the technique or patience but it turned out well enough for my needs :)

It does peel off but only if you spray on a thick enough layer. I'd say for the effort involved you might as well mask them. If not I know that Turtle Wax 'Fast Wax' will remove it. Took it off my paint with no fuss :)
