went to test drive new cupra today after arranging it with dealer last weekend, first they siad they would ring me to confirm if the had a slot for me. all week no phone call!!! went in today and saw same bloke who i saw last time. i asked again about the test drive. was then asked my age and was then denied a test drive as im not 21 and its such a powerful car!!!! wasnt even offered to be taken out by him in the car to see what they were like. and was basically told to come back when im 21.
they also asked me if i had got insurance quotes for the cupra if i was to buy one :wtf: i only want to know if they are nice to drive and if id like one.
anyone else not been allowed a test drive in one?

I had the same prob when i brought the FR i had to go to a different dealership as my local (PREMIER SEAT Stoke) wouldnt let me out in one...managers face when i dropped by get some bits for it a week later was priceless!
However as soon as i went down have a look at the new cupra the first thing they did was get the keys for it.
Why dont they worrie about selling the car and let you worrie about ins and paying for it!
SEAT dealers mate, most of em are wank put me off ever having another SEAT!

Gaz,

I assume you were at Advantage SEAT Lincoln.

I went up there the other weekend to buy some car mats, when the parts door was locked I went into the showroom to see if there was anybody who could help me. When I said the door was locked, I was taken back to the locked parts department (I don't think he believed me), he the said 'oh they must close at 1.00' (this was about 12.50).

I can understand me missing the sign that said they closed at 12.00, but he worked there for gods sake and didn't know.

By the way Stoneacre in Peterborough are no better, the managed to sell there only petrol FR demonstrator but couldn't manange to tell me this until I turned up for a prebooked test drive, then they wouldn't let me have an extended test drive (I only wanted 2 hours not 2 days) unless I provide the insurance

it's the risk dealers take. I can see their point - they would rather duck out on the sale of the odd one or two cars, than have the living **** kicked out of demo's by 'young' drivers

And don't say "I wouldn't" because I was younger once, and did exactly that. God love RIchardsons back in 2001 :D

Anyway, I'm sure if you want one - you'll have a drive in one. but you will not likely be allowed to drive it hard even under test drive conditions

I can see their point however i think a balance needs to be struck. Although I'd say Seat drivers are generally older people the more popular Seat gets they will attract younger dirvers such as yourself. I am suprised they refused you seeing you got a Seat already and this shows you are interested in the brand.

I would have loved to have been you.. Id really rub it in.

I went to a vag garage to look at a new golf 140sport, the man was a little snobby and unhelpfull.. How ever he did ring a week later to see if I was still interested, must have been a slow day - anyway, I took great delight in telling him I went for a seat leon fr :funk:

i can understand there maybe being insurance issuees, but the way i was not rang and the way i was basically told come back when your old enough is a bit harsh i belive. sill feel he should have taken me out in it at least, if im showing an interest. as ive bought a car from them dads bought 2 from them last being 3 months ago! looks like few dealers are letting seat down

OMG...
I had the same problem the other day mate.. The silly cow who works there wouldn't take me out, as i'm not changing for about 3-4 months.. She basically said, that if i'm not buying one today, she won't take me out.. I was F**KING livid.. [:@] .. I mean, i'm a 29 year old Sales Manager that walked in the showroom all suited up and pulled up in a 05 Plate Cupra R.. What bigger buying signal does she want FFS..
Anyway, told her to ram it and i'll take my business elsewhere.. On the way home I shared my disgust with Seat Customer Service (will probably do fook all, but wanted to make a point)..
I've been in sales 12 years and have never seen such SHITE service!! Just can't believe it's happened to you too mate.. I'd ring customer service too mate, they might act on it if it's happened to someone else..
W**KERS!!!
So if anyone is thinking of buying a Seat in the Lincoln area, do yourself a favour and give ADVANTAGE MOTOR GROUP a wide birth..
Saying that, they couldn't of been anymore helpfull in the Mazda dealership next door when I took the MPS out..
