Well my Leon LED lights finally arrived from Dectane in Germany for us to test.

These are the latest lights from Dectane called their 'Litec' range. They are designed to look very OE, very similar to the new patterns found on the A4/A5 ranges.

I chose to test the 'red' versions, but there are also some clear/chrome and some smoked versions too.

The only obvious problem for UK cars is that all of these lights are only available in LEFT HAND DRIVE versions, hence the fog and reverse on the wrong side. The reverse is hardly noticable against the rest of the red casing of the lights anyway

I'm all honesty I'm not that bothered, and I've run a wiring loom across inside the boot lid, so the fog and reverse do light up correctly - albeit in theory the fog is on the wrong side for the UK

The lights are full LED for stop and tail plus indicator. Fog and reverse are normal bulbs, but as they fog and reverse us normal sized bulbs I see no reason as to why these could not be changed for LED versions if wanted.

Fitting is simple, as they are direct replacements for the original parts.

Feel free to have a look at the pictures below !

if there is enough interest I might be able to get a batch of UK spec lights done.

Very interesting!

I'd love to see some more pics of them lit up including the indicators. It's a shame about th left-right fog/reverse problem... I have a feeling that might be an issue come MOT time? But they look pretty good, thanks for posting this! :)

In all honesty I don't think most MOT testers would even bother to think its on the wrong side !
However, the lamps are a 2 minute swap over come MOT time - so you put the original 'boot' lights back in!

I will try and film a video on my Panasonic HD camera over the weekend, but LEDs are notoriously difficult to photograph !

Indicators light up the same orange as say the newer BMW rear leds, very bright !

Do you think it something that would be noticed? I have LHD rears on mine atm and may be moving back to Uk. wandered ir the Fog/reverse side would be overlooked or if Id have to dig out the RHD rear lights

I've already got a set of 2011 OEM ones on tentative order with my local stealer, so when they get built on week 22 or whatever it was, they will be able to look up the prices for me.

Nath - Retail price on these Dectane lights is approx 279 Euros (might as well be pounds - exchange rate is crap!!)

As for Mk2 pre-facelift, yes there is a range of lights for them too !

Go here : https://www.dectane.de/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=leon+1p&x=0&y=0

But again, please bear in mind they are all LHD versions.

I've got a set of the front DRL lights on order for when the come in to stock with Dectane !

Andy

PS - Anyone in the Essex area is welcome to come and have a proper look at the lights if they are passing my work or home.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but what is the build quality like on these lights?

I am tempted, but from past experience of aftermarket lights its putting me off!

Andyccr - do you have any high res pics of these?

Cheers!

Well I sell aftermarket lights for a living ! and I was dubious of build quality. I could have sent them back if I didn't think they were any good !

Well 7 months later, no problems whatsoever. No failed LEDs, no error messages on the display, no signs of condensation, water or damp problems inside the lamps. Perfect fit.

I probably have some high res pics, or you are welcome to come across the Dartford Crossing and come and have a look for yourself !! I'm only over in Chelmsford
