As the Formentors from 2020 and 2021 come out of warranty some of us (myself included) will be looking for decent local specialists to do service and repair work.

Admins could we have a sticky thread for people to put their recommendations up ?

Definitely gets 👍👍 from Me.

Last week whilst going in for a 'Big service' as the final part of my sevice plan, I got a free health check from my local CUPRA service supplier (I live near Portsmouth).

That health check should come with a health warning for the extortionate prices offered for a 'faulty' battery, new tyre goo (if only there was a spare wheel of anykind!) For the tyre pump.
And rusty (inner vents) rear discs.

I asked in advance if they would swap tyres round front to rear whilst they were about it, which I was told they would.
I was unimpressed to say the least when I booked the car in and I was told there would be £90 charge for this.

You can guess what I said... 🤔🤣

After lurking around by the sales for 20 mins and drinking their 'free' coffee, I was approached and told that they would swap the tyres over for free on this occasion. - as I 'd already been asked to fetch out the locking nut before I got there, they were already gonna take the wheels off to inspect and video the brakes etc. And as for reprogramming the tpms system to tell the car which wheel goes where - i know for a fact takes sub 5 mins.

So if asked "do I want a list of trusted independent service and repair garages" the answer is Yes Please. 👍

I think there may need to be some kind of format like garage location in the UK (not just north south etc but maybe county or town), contact details of the garage, what they can and cant do and why they are good to use.

I've always liked privately owned dealers rather than the chain owned ones. With fixed price services thou the costs will be the same up and down the country. I did ask how they got remunerated once being tariffs and prices were my forte before I retired. Fixed price remuneration so those with low operating costs in the sticks get the same as those with high operating costs.

Anyhow paint shops would be another one to add to the classification. Specially pleased with the local one that did the work to take out the vandalised panels and dents from home counties feral society. Their normal fair was hedgerow scratches and shunts. The Seat dealers was good enough to give me the details... and yes the Seat dealer was a family run one. The paint shop is the goto place for all brands if you don't want a warranty paint job.
