Hi All

I'm in the process of trading in my VW Golft GTI for a Formentor 2.0 245ps DSG, 2023 model with 7k miles on the clock from a Cupra main dealer. Always liked the look of them so fancied taking the plunge.

I was supposed to collect the car on Saturday only to be told by the dealer late on Friday afternoon, whilst conducting their 100 and whatever point check, that an airbag warning light had come on. They diagnosed most likely a software update would be needed.

Today I've been told that a new head unit module will be needed and this will take 10 days to arrive/fit.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem or part? I'm just a little concerned that on a car of this age, why would it fail. And would it indicate wider issues. Maybe I should walk away?

Any help or thoughts appreciated

Thanks

Unfortunately all VAG vehicles appear to be going through a period of pain when it comes to electrical faults. I’m on my second Leon Mk4 and it currently requires a throttle body and has an issue with the cruise control being unavailable intermittently. Neither car has broken down, but it’s frustrating dealing with dealerships that are clearly struggling to deal with the sheer number of faults and have sketchy customer service. Excellent build quality, but customers are just going to buy different brands if they don’t get their act together soon.
