Dead Battery?

Would you guys mind confirming what I think is a dead battery for me please?

Basically, I (like an idiot) left the ignition on but the engine not running on my LCR. The climatronic was running and it must've been around 15 minutes before I tried to start it up, at which point I got nothing.

So, I took the battery out (which was still OK to run the radio and central locking, but not the ignition) and charged it for about 4 hours. It was OK after this and I went to work in the car this morning. However, when I went to leave this afternoon it wouldn't start. Again, there was enough power for the radio and central locking, but nothing else. We jumped it and it ran OK. I came home and took the battery out again.

This time I checked the voltages. It was reading 12.4v when it was fully charged (according to the charger). I put it back in the car and hooked everything back up, and it's still reading 12.4v. I tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. I went back to the battery and read the voltage at 10.3v.

It says "battery f*cked" to me, but having never had a battery die on me before I thought I'd run it by you guys for confirmation if you don't mind.

Thanks all

I did wonder. I have one of those Black & Decker chargers that decide when it's charged though and it goes to a trickle charge when it's determined that the battery is charged, so I'm not sure that it's any good in that respect?

I have the use of the wifes Leon tomorrow anyway, but I need to have both cars running by Thursday so fingers crossed

Jumped the car this afternoon and took it down to the local shop. He checked the alternator which was fine (knew that already) and then he checked the battery. I don't know what he was reading, but it read 257 of whatever it was. He said it's supposed to be twice that and indeed it was the battery that was at fault. So, a new battery in and it seems fine.

Thanks
