Dazed and Confused - mod order?

I have owned a 2001 Cupra (pre-facelift) for a year now and have so far:

Installed a oil temp gauge (smoked)
Boost gauge (smoked)
A pillar gauge holder
K&N Cone filter (which fecked the MAF sensor so back to standard)

I have just over 1K for mods (alloys are being financed elswhere - new RS4 replicas)

My issue is that I am used to 180bhp and would like to get it remapped, however don't know of a reputable custom tuner in the south west (anyone got any recommendations?)

If I get it remapped I ideally want to get miltek to get it breathing better.

Now the probelm is (and from reading this forum for 6 months there seems to be a concensus) that the styling of the pre-facelift is less than easy on the eye!!

Am I right in thinking that to give it a face lift it is likely to cost about 1K alone. If I spend the cash on 'surgery' do I go for the cupra R kit or the FR kit, in fact what is the difference?

Apologies for the essay but am gagging to get modding but don't know where to begin.

you'll need just over 1k for brand new Cupra R kit.

Go and get Revo (www.revotechnik.com) - a remap that will take your car to about 207bhp, and 230lbft torque. Only costs you about £399+Vat, which means it'll still leave you with some more funds for the cosmetic surgery :)

i reckon the my03 mod is subtle and smart and was tops before 03 as it was in fact the original Cupra4 bodybits but now a few about as standard obviously

just blame me 'n' Zboyd's credit card for that one :)

personally the R look is more aggressive and best so far i think

I personally think that you'll get more enjoyment out of a remap than anything. You could spend £500 on that and then keep the other £500 put aside and search eBay for new bumpers if you like. You probably wont get the LCR bumpers for that money, but you might get lucky and find the Cupra/FR bumpers. Even if they are slightly damaged, they will need to be stripped and painted anyway so it's not a big deal.

Thanks both,

Remap 1st then.

In terms of the pre-facelift look, I saw a yellow prefacelift in a recent thread (as below), where it looked like the black bits of the bumpers had been painted, it had then been lowered onto 5 spokes which seems to work.

Nothings going to beat the cupra r front bumper though, looks like the FMIC grill could suck up small children, remenisant of the evo!
