Evening All,

The girlie is due to go in for a going over however last couple of days she's been a little bit poorly....done some good runs over the hols rather than the usual 2mile stints, well excluding the car park that was the M1 on Boxing Day:)

Anyway, all has been fine n dandy n i never have a prob with her starting etc however on Weds i went out n she started although the revs kept dropping n she kept cutting out...hey ho so kept the revs up got her down the road n all was well although she threatened to cut a couple of times on changedown but once the clutch was disengaged,i think,:rolleyes:everything kicked back in again. Has happened a couple of times although she's starting n going ok but my concern is that when she has threatened to cut has been going around corners and whilst the dead spot happens the power steering goes for that time and as i have no great desire to meet a wall face on i'd like to get this sorted so i'm asking the genius' that you all are for some suggestions.......

No pattern,no rhyme or reason other than going around corners???

Your help would be most greatly appreciated[B)][B)]

Hey you,Hows it going apart from stuttery???

Haven't been completely missing, been on but not been posting much due to Crimbo and alcohol intake, not conducive to correct typing;)

Seems to have come out of nowhere this little niggle, funnily enough i was nossing around in the garage last week for a bottle of redex, thought i had one but it's not there so a trip to halfords may be in order tomorrow..

Will keep you posted if i don't hit a wall first or someone hits me!!!!

BTW She's got 3/4 tank of petrol at the mo,a record by my standards.....

Try the redex. I use it quite alot and i think it makes alittle bit of a difference. When I use it I get a small improvement in my MPG even when I have the foot down. The car is also alittle more responsive when using it, not much but you can notice a slight difference.

Yep,2.0 8v cupra sport, sorry maybe shoulda put that....

Shoved some redex in her this afternoon and did a little run,4 mile round trip, started ok n picked up her revs,no cutout so we'll see although she did slightly threaten to cut coming off a roundabout, seems to be right hand turns she does it though:confused::confused:

Will see how she is in morn from cold start, fingers crossed....

There's no F in Quality..
when it cuts out, do the dash lights go out to? and the clock reset?

if so, it could be the ECY Control Relay (part numbers on here if you have a quick search)

if not, it could be the old throttle body problem, where it just needs a good clean, so that when you take your foot off the accelerator, the throttle body can open slightly to allow the engine to idle. It gets covered in oily gunk from the crankcase breather, which stops it working properly. a good clean with carb-cleaner should do the trick.

When she threatens to cut the dash lights come up as usual as when you turn the ignition key halfway, think battery n handbrake light, well 2 next to each other anyway, have to double check, obviously when the power kicks back in these disappear as expected....

Cheers Andy, will see what she's doing tomorrow and am gonna get her in for a service etc to get her tip top again...luckily she was fine at stooping in the car park today as some silly bint decided to stop dead n reverse into a space without checking the fact i was behind her, fortunately managed to slam her in reverse, bib her up n nearly run over a couple walking behind me,but hey sacrifices have to be made to avoid my front end being smashed in by a people carrier!!!!

Was the throttle body being gunked up on my old 8v that caused this, make sure you tell them that you want it cleaned on the service as not one garage i know seems to check it as standard!
