Cutting out

Lately the car had been cutting out, usually withing the first 10 minutes or so of driving. It always happens after I've been driving along and then am breaking for lights or a junction etc. Also noticed yesterday after I stopped on a slight incline at a level crossing that the battery light was starting to flicker so I gave it a little rev and it was OK after that.
It starts strongly from cold and even after cutting out starts again no problem.

Anyone got any thoughts on what might be causing this ?

could poss be your fuel pump, had a golf and everytime i went round this one corner i knew it would die, then it would start up no problem.

This old chestnut fault again, mine was the same but only cut out when warmed up. Mine turned out to be the crank sensor. Get someone to check the fault memory sooner rather than later as you will find it will suddenly get worse. Seems to come as standard at this age..... best of luck mate.

Well its not happened for a few days now. Throttle body has been cleaned and a new air filter put in - fingers crossed thats sorted it out.

Thanks for the advice
