Not sure if you guys mention things like this on here, as its obviously not clever to go fast... But seriously, on a "private" track, how fast has your new cupra been???

all im saying is... the book figure might be slightly too low...

FYI Not that kind of crowd fella. Doubt anyone has got it upto Pod or anything like that yet to test it out though.

Top speed puts it at 153mph and reckon it could get there with a push. 130 is very easy to get to however, with the remaining 20 not that far off I would imagine.

Under power (still using the engine) the top speed of a car is only limited by it's gearing. It'll keep going until it his the rev limiter. But that's assuming you have the torque/power to get you that far along. And if not, there's a few good stretches of the M1 that have a good gradient to them..

Aren't speedo's generally about 10% out anyway so if the true top speed is 153 mph, then if you were truely doing that sort of top speed, the speedo would be reading nearly 170 mph?

I had a GPS in my Celica until the GPS got stolen and on that car the speedo was around 10% out compared to the GPS and about the same against the road signs that tell you your speed in a 30 zone.

Yes, I was going to say, Speedo's arnt that accurate and can be anything upto 10% out. Think mines about 7 %, but it does vary depends on speed. GPS's are alot more accurate, but only if you have a good satellite fix and if you are going on a fairly falt terrain.

i reckon it may be over book in the right conditions.

On our trip to Nurburgring beginning of last month we had my mates Audi TT Sport up to 162mph on GPS and thats just a 1.8t with 235 ish bhp,

Ain't Germany great though, and you know what, we got pushed along at 130 by a bloody renault espace....lol
