I didn't notice any other mod, but then i'm new to the Seat's brand. Nice and local too. i'll keep you posted.

From what I could see from the pics - Silver around the airvents and the silver around the centre console - (round the stereo and aircon, round the gear stick) - but if you didn't like it you could probably sort it all out for less than £100 with new or 2nd hand bits - not enough to put me off buying it if everything else is in order.

Strangely they're not open on a sunday, and they close at 3pm on saturdays. im not quite sure when he expects people to view his cars. So it will have to wait until next week. got one other possible car to view tomorrow, similar distance too.

i paid £5600 for an 03 black LCR with 45k on the clock early this year. couldnt believe how cheap cars are now. i had around £7k to spend max and was amazed to find what kind of cars i could get, even things like merc slk`s, nissan 350 z`s and mazda rx8`s. had a bash in them all but loved the LCR so went for that.

I thought i would add some more to this thread. Today i managed to find a LCR on a 54 plate with 40k with FSSH in grey for £7,600. it absolutely mint as well, i've seen a few cars the same year and the same spec etc... and they are at least an extra £1,000 more than i paid. Maybe i was just lucky

Was that this one? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1089197.htm

I offered him as much as I had but he wouldn't take it, shame as it looks like a fine example

Well the one I saw turned out not to be my dream car. Was the second time I'd been to see it and it seems I must have had the 'first car blindness'. My girlfriend came along (actually a good move - they pick out all the bad bits you don't see, or don't want to see :)).

The drivers door didn't open properly, there were a fair few stone chips (down the sides rather than the bonnet), a rear light was cracked and it had one brand new tyre which the dealer couldn't explain (if it was a puncture fair enough but I can't think of any other non-dodgy reasons why tyres aren't changed in pairs at least). Interior was also a bit more scruffy and marked than I remembered.

Add to that the fact it needed a cambelt and tax, for £8k it didn't seem a good deal. The guy wouldn't budge on price and I didn't particularly like him either (!) so walked away. Having said that it wasn't a terrible car so I won't name and shame the garage.

Also tried out an 03 model just for comparison in Wigston, Leicestershire. Liked the Recaros  It's up for £7k but it needs a service (air con reeked), cambelt change and calipers could do with a spruce up so with a bit of haggling it will make a good purchase for someone.

There seem to be a few platinum Rs on sale for good prices at the moment - where are the bargain black ones hiding??:D

Black is a PITA to keep clean - platinum all the way :)

I've not found anything that fits the bill for me yet, still looking. But I've now opened up my search to include mk4 ibiza cupras too, as I think you get more for your money. For the same figure (6.5-7k) I can get a 54/55 plate Ibiza Cupra, with 25-30k on the clock, and in some cases this would be from a SEAT dealer and so come with a 1yr warranty plus also, with a haggle, free servicing for a year or 2.

Still not sure what I'll find yet, but hopefully I'll get a nice car soon! Fed up of driving my 306 :(

by the way, I don't know what your limit is on mileage, but there is one on autotrader with 88k on the clock, and it's advertised as an LC (£6k) but looks to me like an LCR - although no engine bay pics to confirm. It definately has the kit/wheels etc, and the badge on the boot....

Yeah but black looks so nice when it is clean:D Also has to be a Leon - it's my favourite car looks wise.

Mileage limit is 60-65k really (ideally less). I know the cars are good for double that but I bought my LC on 80k and was forever wishing I had a lower mileage car (plus I started to get all of the usual age related probs which did my head in). Only problem with that is it brings them slap bang into cambelt change territory as I mentioned.

There are definitely some around - only been looking for 2 weeks but it feels like ages. Just have to be patient I guess. The more I see and drive (4 so far) the more objective I'm getting which is good - less likely to get carried away when I see one I like... hopefully.

well at least you've got to test drive some! I've seen 1, which wasn't "allowed" to test drive so walked away, was going to see another but the dealer never returned my call after speaking with them and coming up with some weird excuses... few others i want to go and see, but they are just too far away for me to warrant the long journey. Shall hope something appears down south eventually :)

Viewed this one today: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1146299.htm

Mechanically sound (apparently), cosmetically horrendous. Scratches and dents everywhere you look, every alloy was kerbed and the front bumper has been resprayed to a shocking standard.

Don't get me wrong the dealer was a sound bloke and fully acknowledged the state of the car, but I'd just advise you all to give this one a miss.

Don't buy black - it shows every tiny mark, every little chip, every little tiny scratch. The biggest mistake I made buying mine was in choosing black. You're right that it looks fantastic clean, but its clean for such a short time that you'll wish you chose another colour. I look after my car and have had it from new and the front end is a mess. The bumper is chipped to bits, the bonnet and front wings with lots of tiny specs and it really could do with a repaint across the front. It polishes up quite nice all the same but all I can see is the marks!!!

I should have bought red or platinum.

Red still has it's fair share of problems. Grey or silver if you want hassle free paint work. Myself, I love the black and using a really good wax to look after the paint seems to help no end... I'd recommend the Autoglym £40 Hi-Def wax to anyone!

Grey, Silver and black all blend in with every other car on the road. It's soo boring these days looking at such bland cars. It's nice to see a few different colours out there - if only they were easy to look after! Yellow and Red both fade if not properly maintained, but I suppose that's partly down to the quality of paint used these days.

Doesn't that rule out any LCR for you then?!:D

I had a black LC and despite the chips I still love the colour. Determined to protect the paint as much as I can with wax etc, and worst case is a front respray I guess.

I called up about that one in Buckinghamshire (post 74) on Saturday. They'd only just got it. There's also a service missing (not been done since 34k I don't think). Definitely glad I didn't make the trip down to see it now!

yeah - lol!
I'm not going to be picky on colour, but luckily for you, Black is my least fav. on the list, so I won't buy one that you want! ;)
