Slightly digressing off the ABT topic but I found the post on the Facebook group and a member got 375hp with JB4 when paired with an intercooler. He mentioned the intercooler gave him an extra 15hp, so stands it’s was at 360 prior to that.
Substantially more than an ABT and probably more consistent power now we know more about how the ABT pack works.

Would be a tough call for me If I was buying one of these now.

£500 for up to 350hp with an ABT box that worked sometimes. Warranty safe.

£400 for a solid 360hp that probably worked all the time with a JB4, and if installed correctly also warranty safe (once removed safely of course)

Anyway back to the ABT.
Does anyone know if the 370ps ABT packs for the pre GPF cars were ever dyno tested by anyone ??

I can’t believe the performance drop hasn’t been noticed before on these things !!!
Yes and the ABT 370’s where Dynoing at 340-350.

I’m just about to buy one and I’m seriously thinking about it now. If say Ford advertised the RS Focus as 350bhp and it made 300 they would have a riot on their hands.

It’s still a great car, everything else is awesome
Just don’t bother with the ABT kit that’s all.

I’ve done quite a bit of digging and it’s seems that the ABT upgrade for the golf R has the same issues.

Well, the standard car is capable of far more than 300hp, but that's what they give you. One of the reasons being that they are considering car durability. The car is not marketed as a track day special, if that's what you want, do it at your discretion with whatever upgrades you want without warranty protection..
Think you’re missing the point. It’s not about being a track day special. If it’s marketed and sold as 345bhp ABT option it should be capable of this in all conditions or disclaimed explicitly otherwise, thus stopping this sort of thread coming about.

if they don’t think they can realistically achieve 345bhp in all conditions (even on a dyno run ffs) then they should have left it at 300bhp and not bothered.

I wonder if all ABT cars, new or old, have this fail-safe built into them? or maybe this is specified by SEAT so they never have any warranty problems down the road...

Highly doubt it, Seat UK just agreed to offer it on this occasion. You can get the box in a number of countries in Europe with warranty as well, but it’s the full £2,000 price. Not every country does it.
Seat UK just bought into it nothing more, hence them quoting it as 370PS without even realising (like a few of us in here) that it would only be 350PS on the PPF cars, as it’s the same box on the Cupra Ateca.

I remember reading not long after the mk3 RS came out there was people complaining how the car did not put out the stated power on a dyno and was putting out around 310-320bhp

With the JB4, if this is removed from the car, is it still traceable to say one had been installed on the car? Heard rumours of some people saying its fully untraceable but others saying it is, just wondered if anyone knew for sure

Just a quick thought on this, probably laughable and based on fag packet maths.

In the Sports dials the power is listed in Kw.
It only goes up to 221kw as that’s 300ps and probably set like that and can’t be changed.

However I’ve noticed that mine achieves 221kw (maxed our dial) somewhere around 4.5-5k rpm.

The car pulls much harder after this and feels like its hitting max at around 6-6.5k rpm (it shifts at 6.5 in sports mode).

Is this any kind of evidence my ABT car is putting out over 300ps ????

:)

: awaits piss taking ;)

There are rumours that's it's detectable but no hard evidence, so long as it's fitted and removed correctly I don't think it's traceable, my B9 S4 has been in a few times for warrenty, including a boost sensor and I've removed it before going in and nothing has ever been said

So had the ABT kit taken off, and dynoed with nothing else on put out 296bhp with 280ftlb so the kit was actually doing something just not much.
Then had my car re mapped APR stage 1 with the DSG map, turbo intake and sports filter.

feels like a completely different car

@Jenko which turbo intake and sports filter did you fit if you don't mind me asking?
Turbo technics intake and a BMC filter. I was seriously considering getting the R600 but think the mrs would have shot me.
It had a dyno run with just the map and it put out 356.22hp and 409.59ftlb so with the filter and intake it added 15.3 bhp and 9.24ftlb. Not bad at all.

Wow this is a phenomenal result @Jenko

I knew I’d be jealous... but holy s**t.....that torque 566nm .

Also nice to see the TT intake/pipe and air filter making such a difference and getting it quantified.

I hope my MST elbow/pipe and AfE filter are giving me a similar boost !!
My next step is in intercooler and then I may enquire if anyone can do a TCU tune to compliment the (pretty weak it now seems) ABT to see if some more torque can be unlocked.

Wow yeah quite a difference with the intake and filter, think at least the intake is one of my first mods :)

I bet you are so relieved, and feel justified that you were right all along.

So what about the dreaded GPF issue that ABT says restricts power.... not a problem so it seems.
