Think the R32 would be a bit heavier too.

EDIT: Just beat me to it James!

Well before my mates mk IV R32 was knicked we played a couple of times. My Cupra R is totally standard, and on a rolling start there was very little in it. In fact if anything mine had ever so slight an edge at higher speeds. Unsurprisingly he could kill me off the line. The think a mapped Cupra R would easily be quicker than an R32.

What about the twistys though.

Sorry to hear your mates R32 was nicked. Looking forward to my new house as the car will be behind the gate etc.

id have to say the mapped cupra r. Ive had a run in with a 330ci and there was nothin in it tbh so cant see the r32 beating a mapped cupra r in a straight line.
as is said, depends on the driver to an extent but the drivers might be equaly as good as each other but even being 21 i do question racing on the windies!!!just not worth it most of the time!!

That entirely depends on the scooby in question :D. My advice....don't race an STI, you'll get burned! If an STI is remapped it should be pushing over 300bhp.

However, my bro owns an '03 wrx and even with an exhaust (among other things) and a remap he is still only just pushing over 260bhp. In standard form this particular wrx is somewhere around 210-220 bhp i think.

The key thing here is weight, the scooby is significantly lightler and it will be miles quicker off the line (in standard form the wrx is somewhere around 5.5 seconds 0-60 i believe) due to the 4WD but a stg1 LCR would most likely have it on a rolling start.

Don't forget, in some ways Scoobys are old fogie cars and there are plenty of imprezas with 0-60 times in the high 10's. They are not all turbo charged rally monsters! On the wrx front there are LOADS of variants....STI, AWD, Prodrive.....the performance varies quite significantly.
