I heard that the Brembo's were going to be fitted, but on testing Seat found that they weren't quite up to the job and giving diffculties in stopping the new Cupra, so the set up that is now on them was sourced.

That only implies that they didnt pick the correct spec caliper for the job!

lol, what correct spec would that be then, something different to a 4 pot caliper possibly??

The ones they used on the early test cars were bigger than the Cupra R brembo's, they were still running 345mm discs. However due to excessive overheating and costly consumables such as the expensive pads they decided to replace them with the R32 brakes, which are more than upto the job. And i believe the servicing costs will be less. What were SEAT charging for R pads, over £150. Imagine the price on pads almost twice the size. ;)

If you really wanted good multi-pot calipers, there are plenty of alternatives out there that are far better than the Brembo's.

I guess that's Brembo's job then to supply the right ones for the job, not SEAT. As they made the caliper. ;)

I still think in the long run this is better for consumers, if you want that kind of braking system you can choose a better system and add it aftermarket. I would expect the consumable parts to be cheaper especially as other vehicles in the VAG range share the components.
