I've had my Sport PD130 for almost 4 years now, got it from new. I am thinking about changing it for the Cupra PD160, the handling on mine isn't the best in the world, how much better is the Cupras? also it would be a one or two year old one I would buy, does anyone know if the spec is much different to the current one?

dont think there are too many diffrences have to say when my mates let me have a go in his cupra its handling is a bit better, but a doubt a load better if u know what I mean, If you dont like the handling I doubt u will see a major diffrence in the cupra, although you could always change suspension etc.

cupra has a thicker anti roll bar and stiffer suspension and i think it makes a bit difference also the esp helps with a bit of handling if the back emd becomes twitchy it will sort it out

I don't dislike the handling, just expected to be improved, think test drive will need to be had, unless someone near where I live wants to let me have a go in one

Sorry i know it doesnt really apply to the car your looking at but i always thought the handling was the best asset of my ibiza, i cant remember how it was at standard but now it has lowering springs, front strutbrace and 17" momo wrs with toyo proxes t1R tyres. It went round corners better than a lot of other cars iv driven. It never had any power (1.2) but at least it was fun on the bends!

Have you considered any slight mods?

id say the handling on my cupra is pretty good. is completely standard except a forge upper strut brace.

took my car to a track day back in december last year and i feel that it held its own against the other cars there. the photographer that was at the track day had several photos of my car going round the corner on 3 wheels, which i thought was impressive!

there was someone from here who was at the same event in his lcr and he was impressed by how well it handled as i was catching him through the bends

i think with better tyres and some suspension upgrades (such as coilovers) the handling will improve even more.

Major differences apart from the shocks and springs are 1) the anti-roll bar and 2) the silent blocks which are both different in the Cupras

Heavy diesel engine in the front will always mean this car pushes it's nose wide.
My thoughts on the handling of my 130 Sport are that it is OK, but not exceptional.
Fiesta ZetecS 1.6TDCi will show it a clean pair of heels in terms of handling, but not on the power side of things.

I haven't drive the Cupra, but would expect it to be more of the same kind of handling, just a bit better.

My brother had a Sport PD 130 until recently (swapped it for a Type-R  ). He was with me when I was giving the Cupra PD 160 a test drive and he thought that it had far less body roll and a lesser tendancy to understeer. He also commented that it felt less 'obvious' that there was a heavy engine up front.

when i first got my cupra petrol i thought the handling was ok for the power it had 180bhp then when i remapped it ect the standard suspension couldnt give me the speeds i wanted round the bends but with the help of seat sport strut brace 20mm rear spacers and some fk coilovers some better tyres than p-zeros it now handles a dream and am really happy with it now!
