all sorted now, was the speed sensor bought one from the dealers for about £80 and had it fitted for £10 so not too expensive.

I've got the same symptoms:

Driving along normally then suddenly cuts out, it'll just turn and turn but not fire. Then if you leave it for 10 / 20 mins it'll start up fine for another mile or so.

Found 3 faults on VagCom:

3 Faults Found:
16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal
P0322 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16501 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too Low
P0117 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0010 0000

Have already changed the Coolant Temp Sensor, and thought I'd cured the problem but it happened again so next I will change the Engine Speed Sensor (G28).

Anyone know what:
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Could this be where I had been trying to start it, draining battery?

Will let you know how I get on.

Mike
