Cupra bucket seats - worth it?

Hello everyone,

my first post here - I am going to order Cupra 280 and I am thinking about bucket seats. I test drove Cupra with bucket seats and I was satisfied with them, but seller told me, that standard seats are also very good and there is no reason for bucket seats, unless I want to race circuits on regular basis.

So I want to hear some opinions from Cupra users here in forum, both from them who went for bucket seats (are they worth it?) and from them who did not (how does standard seats perform? Will you order them again?).

Thank you for answers!

Might be worth checking with your dealer as I've been told there is a 23 week delay on the standard 280 seats, so have opted to go with the leather instead. But gutted three weeks into my order.

I am 6 foot 14 stone and standard seats seem fine for me.

I'm 6' and a bit more than 14st and standard are ok, didn't fall out round Evo triangle, but a bit more support would be nice. GF prefers these to previous R buckets though. And she's not 6' and I've no idea on weight ........... :D

I like the standard seats from a comfort point of view (mine are heated too). i wouldn't call them particularly figure hugging though - in that respect, I think that the Golf seats hold you better (albeit they are very similar).

I sat in a car with buckets in the showroom and they were pretty snug and held you well. The smallest/hugiest ones I've sat in were the Scirocco buckets.

Who gave you this info? Seat themselves told me the only delay is the standard cupra 19"s which is currently at 19weeks. Never any mention of the standard alcantara's.

My dealer today, ordered three weeks ago and hadn't had a confirmed build week as they would have expected, after discussion with their dealer support a bulletin with yesterday's date was found stating the standard seats have a supply issue, and are subject to a 23 week delay.

Are the standard Cupra seats the same as the FR Alcantara sports seat, just wondering now if thats whats causing my delay?

Could well be, it was described as a material sourcing issue, best to check with your dealer. The bulletin was dated 07/04, just in case your dealer isn't up to date.

They're not the best at communicating unfortunately! Will give them a call later.

I like to give credit where its due, my dealer acted swiftly and knew all of the options that were available to me. He'd even found some cars that were in transit, that were close to my spec when he rang. In the end, I opted for the full leather instead, which probably isn't a bad thing after I've read reports of the white strip on the Alcantara seats discolouring (or actually gaining colour from peoples clothes).

Yes, I wondered if that would be a problem, I know if you have a cream or white coloured sofa you can get colour from people wearing jeans rubbing off on them!

Ah i see, i spoke to them on the 6th, typical.
i have to say SEAT aren't the best at communicating delays to dealers. If i hadn't of give them a call a couple of weeks ago i would of been expecting a call in may/early june to say "your shiny new cupra is sat on my forecourt waiting for its daddy" turns out now its going to be september. Or maybe its a dealer communication error to myself? who knows..

Luck of the draw i suppose.
