Cupra 300 Resonator Delete

I have to be honest, this thread is exactly the reason why I have left the exhaust on my Cupra 300 standard.

I like the understated look and sound....until you decide you want to floor it and then the power, and in my opinion the sound kicks in and the car takes off.

I often get up for work at 4am and didn’t want my neighbours complaining about excessive noise and I travel a bit on dual carriageways so I do open it up.

I get the DSG farts just when I want them and I am more than happy with my decision.

I think the standard 300 sounds similar to the 280 with the front resonator out. Im the same didnt got for both as its an early start for work. Dont wanna p*ss the neighbours off

Think I am just going to go for the resonator delete on the 280 then! Leave the extra silencer in. I don't suppose you have a video of yours?

I was going to res delete my 300 when it arrived, but now its going to be a 290 with the GPF i don't think there's any point

Wait till you’ve driven it a while and then decide. By then someone else will have already done it and posted a video so you can compare and make a better informed decision. And maybe save yourself some money better spent on a Racingline Dog Bone Mount.

Verdict so far - sounds better but not significantly louder. What is definitely noticeable is the dsg farts, which a can now hear with the window closed (up TIL now I have had to stick my head out of the window, and I’d only notice them in 1st and 2nd hear, as the wind noise would drown out anything else. Token photos included.

No obvious drone either, although I haven’t really done much more than my 15 mile commute. The roads are bad enough, and the Michelin’s noisy enough, such that all I could hear was the usual road noise.

One thing that I did notice, however, which may spawn a new thread, is that there seems to be something odd about my passenger-side exhaust outlet. I have noticed for a while that the other one has significantly more carbon deposits that the letter most one. Initially I thought this might be due to some valve system in the exhaust that would shut one off at low lod (like the system my old 335i had). However, after looking at the exhaust today when I returned home I noticed a couple of things. Firstly then right exhaust was very hot - this may be normal, I can’t recall the last time I bothered to inspect the exhaust after a drive, but the second thing was that the left exhaust was making a funny sound, and not much was coming out. After looking down the pipe I noticed something that looked like a hairball stuck down it.

Is this an indication that the muffler could have problems?

That definitely doesn't look right! It looks like it could be a failure of the muffler and thats the acoustic insulation after blocking the pipe. I presume the other exhaust is clear with no blockage? With a blockage like that I wouldnt be surprised if you were down on power and noise

Can I please ask is the Resonator Delete pipe an off the shelf kit? Or did you take to an exhaust centre and they made you one up?

If its an off the shelf kit which brand did you use?

Just a word of advice, unless you're gonna fit it yourself, before you buy the progressive parts kit, get a price off a reputable exhaust workshop nearby for a custom made one. It often works out much cheaper and is exactly the same thing.

Good call. Use the discount code CUPRARESDEL for £25 off from Progressive. My local independent tyre/Exhaust place charged me £40 cash for fitting. Took them 15 mins.

I personally dont see the point in the progressive parts kit. Its overpriced and does the same job as going to a custom exhaust centre.

Yep, as @bluehandle said, I just chose the “VAGSport Seat Leon Cupra 280 Resonator Delete Pipe Kit - 280 ST”

I took advantage of the 25% discount (thanks to @bluehandle) they were also offering a 5% discount for new accounts, which I didn’t take advantage of due to stupidity - I presume it would also apply on top of the 25% one.

So I paid £126.94 overall (including shipping and it arrived the next day). Yes, you could probably get it knocked up cheaper as it is just a pipe, although the one I have follows the bend, meaning that you can cut the pipe fairly far away from the resonator, leaving sufficient space to clamp it back on later (so I understand). Presumably this can also be done fairly easily by a proper exhaust person....

For additional info I ended up paying £23 for fitting, which was I think a combination of error on their part and me being a bit scrupulous - they tried to charge me an hours labour, but I’d been sitting there with a stopwatch, as the car was up on the ramp for a while, so I knew how much time it actually took - little over 30 mins in my case.

My insurance premium increased by £11, so with £25 admin fee that was £36.

So all in about £186 quid.

Yep, looks clear.

If you look at my picture above, with the car up on the ramp it is fairly evident that then exhausts are different colours, I suspect whatever has been going on has been there for a while... new thread on its way methinks.

I do 25 miles a day dual carriageway miles for work. It is slightly louder sat at 70 but not enough to be annoying. Id only go for the resonator though and leave the silencer in.
