The a45 are 385 bhp and all wheel drive, my mate has one and regularly destroys the mk3 :( they get the power down so well, and very punchie in mid range.

I would like to see some videos on track against a Mk3 that shows that, the A45 even with all the extra power can't shuffle around the Ring as quickly as a standard 280, never mind a remapped version so they aren't going to destroy one. There are lots of vids around with good drivers, modified A45s and comparatively slow times. Except of course if you are only talking about a traffic light Grand Prix; if that was your fancy then you wouldn't buy a Cupra, you would go for a Golf R. :) as a general proposition, even on greasy / wet roads, to "destroy" a Cupra on the move, an A45 would have to be driven by a maniac racing driver with a death wish, wanting to go to jail for a very long time. I've driven lots of fast cars, and even the stuff with 550 + bhp and AWD wouldn't be appreciably quicker than my Cupra on a twisty road. Standing start and dual carriageway pull, obviously they would be much quicker, but chassis / tyre technology is at such a point, you can't realistically (sensibly?) go much faster on public roads, bigger bhp stuff needs a track to really shine. Re comparisons of FWD vs AWD, on a wet track, against an Evo with slightly more power than my car and a better driver than me, even with AWD, it was slower. :D Point being, these cars aren't getting "destroyed" by anything that isn't either quite special or a really good track toy. Or driven by a racing driver.

Thought I'd make the point his a45 is not the 380 bhp one it's the pre facelift so 360? Also thing to take into consideration is power loss in 4wd it isn't much more than fwd but does have to be considered!

Cupra on a track is a machine I've seen videos of them destroying cars that should by numbers be pulling away! It's the main reason I bought one was the fact i like a good twisty road and the better mpg than any 4wd competitor.

I would agree and if you watch the original 280 vs golf R video by autocar that is exactly what they found and were very supprised about (and very happy with it to as I recall).
