Cupra 225 Insurance

Hi due to take possesion of 54 plate Leon Cupra 225 in January. :D

Unfortunately, I'm 24 and have so far only be listed as a second driver on a family car, :(

Trying to find a company that will offer me a suitable quote for the car. I've never had any convictions or accidents, and I'm buying the car off my older sister. Is it worth putting her or one of my parents on the insurance, and can I claim any no claims for the car I used to drive

thanks guys :funk:

No you cant claim the No claims bonus unless you were the main policy holder of the insurance and yes you should put a female named driver on the policy pref. older.
It also helps if you have access to drive other vehicles.
Best insurance policies to try are:

Norwich union direct
Adrian Flux
Elephant.

In that order. happy hunting. :)

My old insurers (Direct Line) gave me a letter stating how much NCB I had which was passed to the new insurers and (even though there was a slight gap) they honoured the NCB.

Elephant / Admiral (same people) were good recently
Direct Line is worth a go

Am i right in Thinking that if your a second driver on a policy, that the car should only be used for social use and not work use??? I'm pritty sure that your not supposed to use it for commuting for work, can any one clarify this???

Also try http://www.confused.com/
Really good for finding a low Quote

Would depend on the insurance cover.

My other half is insured as the 2nd driver on my motor for work and social, domestic & pleasure cover. You would have to read what's covered with different insurers though

I fell into the same bracket as you, 24 with 0 years NCB. Elephant came in at about £125 per month for their bonus accelerator.

This is basically a 10 month policy and at the end they give you 1 year NCB. Strangely I looked on their site for a quote for renewal yesterday and 24 with 1 year NCB they were looking at £80ish per month, again on the bonus accelerator....

I found that admiral came in a few quid less than elephant.
Bell ( Who are also part of the same group ) would have been even cheaper but weren't interested after I mentioned the Forge DV
With some companies adding the missus to the cover knocked a few quid off, but with others it added a few on.

www.confused.com was pretty useful as well.

But the difference there is that you earned NCB on your own policy, which you then transfered to a new one. This guy has only been a names driver, so has not earned any NCB of his own.

The thing with bonus accelartors is that they normally only valid for the company that give them too you!

Try brentacre brokers .. do a google search for the number. They tend to be your best quote by £50.. plus they don't mind any exterior mods and engine mods are fine too! I declared my tints to them no problems and I think a remap worked out an extra £250... alittle pricey.. but then most insurance companies wouldn't cover you full stop! Nice to be legal and insured!

I'm 23 (female) 6 points and 2 accident (not all me!) paying £1300 added the old dear but don't think she brought it down much on the policy I took out, plus the excess isn't high like some companies! Get what you pay for really!!!

Being a named driver on someone elses policy for a car you use more than the policy owner is called "insurance fronting", and the insurers are getting hard on it as it is illegal.
