Update:
So I removed the entire bumper and swapped the camera. The camera works flawlesly, however, it does need calibration. It's not of by much, just a tiny bit but noticable if you'd look for it.
When removing the bumper; The three hex bolts on the inside of the wheel arches are impossible to reach. What I came up with if using a hex-bit and then a angled key to turn it. That worked fine, but took me two hours to figure out.
Removeing the entire wheel liners, especially the back parts gives you the needed access.
The camera I used was listed as new (and indeed has a production date of 2024 on it) and for a Tiguan. It is NOT an chinese clone, but a proper VW marked one (don't know if there's a difference though). Its the same software version, but another hardware version according tot he
sticker. It works just fine.
I'll update with pictures later, just in case any of our fellow
Cupra Ateca drivers needs to swap out the front 360 camera.
Total cost? €80,- for the camera + an afternoon of work + cuts and scrapes, and a more intimate relationship with my carp. Still need to get the thing calibrated tho.
