Cooling down

I have a 51 reg Ibiza cupra. A few days ago i noticed that the noise the car makes when you switch off the engine has stopped. It used to make a noise for about 5 mins. Also when i was sat in traffic yesterday the engine temp got to about 115 and the light came on but the fans didn't kick in. Could these 2 problems be related?What could be causing these?

sounds like one of the fuses on top of your battery has gone, its quite a common problem, its the first place i'd look

Just looked there, is it the three green ones in the holder with loads of wires coming off it?They hadn't gone anyway the wires were still intact.

thats what happened to mine!! i would check the cinnection of the fuses! and none of mine had gone but had corroded therefore was not actually completing the circuit
